I recently got a tonneau cover and needed a way to keep everything safe. This was the ticket. Installed easy (thanks to youtube). The instructions were not super clear. But manageable. Came with all the supplies parts and pieces. I used some extra zip ties to make sure everything was tucked as I like it. Had to reverse the wiring because it was switching backward. But this was easily accomplished in the tailgate at the first installation. Tundras apparently are reverse of a Tacoma even though it’s compatible with both. Love it. Now I don’t worry about my tools.

Paid around $140 for this kit which seems like a bit much but that’s the cheapest price I could find. What helped me with installation is Toyota forums which gave many tips when installing. My experiences led me to a broken tailgate handle which was cause by the bolt supplied in this kit. Do not make the same mistake I did and just shave the smallest amount off the end of the m6 bolt so that way it doesn’t break your handle. I used OEM Toyota clips for the wire since I anticipated there to be none so I have nothing to state about the ones supplied. I had plenty enough wire but that being said I have a Regular cab short bed so I have no idea if there’s enough for a Crewmax or a DCLB. The main issue with this kit was wiring, the QR code instructions said there is a plug on the Pass side when there was none for me. This may have been because it’s a reg cab but regardless I found one blue and one white wire close to where the plug is supposed to exist and it actually worked. I have pictures I’ll share but please note that the way the wires are connected in the picture is backwards because (unknowingly) I had it that way. So remember to swap the two colors so it is the opposite of my picture. Two final notes are, really grease the moving components and install some sort of sound deadening inside the gate because this mechanism is quite noisy. Read full review

A tailgate lock should come standard if a tri-fold bed cover is ordered but it doesn't. These are fairly easy to install, if you need help there are some good how to videos on YouTube. Every time my passenger doors lock and unlocks the tailgate does too. The cover handles are only accessible when the tailgate is open so if the tailgate is locked the items in the bed are secured. It also prevents tailgate theft with or without a bed cover. I'm glad I put this one on.

I have a decked storage system in my truck bed, and having the ability to lock the tailgate with the push of a key fob is awesome! I always lock my doors, but have forgot to manually lock the tailgate many time. I installed the kit in under 2 hours and it is pretty simple. The reason for the 4 stars: the wiring directions are wrong! I ended up finding my truck model wiring instructions on YouTube. I recommend double checking before wiring. It would have saved me a half hour. Overall, great product, and works very well.

It's so nice having this pop and lock I just had the clicker to lock my doors and it locked the tailgate off so instead of me having to get my key put it in the key slot interning to lock it it's just so much easier by clicking my alarm button and relatively easy to install
