Following on from Tristar's 1998 US movie version of "Godzilla" comes this animated TV series aired on the Fox network. The series follows the surviving Godzilla hatchling from the movie, raised by Dr. Nick Tatopoulos and fighting on the side of humanity against a range of monsters and other threats. Three episodes are included here, "What Dreams May Come", "Bird Of Paradise" and "Deadloch", pitting Godzilla and Dr. Tatopoulos' HEAT Team against energy monster The Crackler, created by the subconscious of a coma patient, the legendary Mexican monster Quetzacoatl and the Loch Ness Monster on a rampage as it searches for it's young, captured by a local scientist. Certainly this does not compare well with the original Japanese Godzilla adventures, and this incarnation of Godzilla is not the toughest or brightest lizard to bear the name (indeed Toho company in Japan saw fit to remove the "God" from it's name). Not for the Godzilla purists but should appeal to kids and to fans of the US film, it shares much of the format and spirit of the original Hanna-Barbera animated series, with Godzilla fighting alongside a scientific team of monster specialists against all manner mosters, robots and aliens.Read full review
We LOVED the price of this DVD!! The animation was great my son is a huge Godzilla fan, which is why we made this purchase, and he loved it. We made this purchase having never seen this title or even knowing that there ever was an animated series of Godzilla so we were really surprised at what great quality it has. We are actively looking for more titles like this one to add to his collection of Godzilla goodies. We are definately going to be watching this one for a long time to come.
Godzila battles everything from a gigantic enery monster to a flying lizard that breathes fire to the infamous monster of Loch Ness, Nessie in 3 different adventures.
