Excellent little GPS unit
I hauled this on several Boy Scout outings as well as camp maintenance expeditions this past winter, and a couple of very long road trips. Compared to other handheld E-Trex family units, this allows long enough waypoint and track names to be more descriptive and less cryptic. The extra memory permits longer "bread crumb" trails compared to my E-Trex legends that I've used for the past decade. The built in flux gate compass lets me get bearings to distant landmarks even when stationary, such as standing on a mountain summit or even up in a tree or on a ladder, and the barometric altimeter lets me determine the elevation changes even with too heavy overhead cover to get a satellite fix. Also the color display is a first for me. It makes features more easily distinguished in the field. While this particular model has been discontinued, it is still a reliable workhorse that should serve many more years in the field.
