Since I was a kid. My mother would prepare moka on the stove using the same old moka coffee maker that are so popular. Years pass, I move to my own apartment and take with me some of the old moka stove only coffee makers and continue to enjoy a good cup once in a while. In one ocassion I was left with no Propane gas so I had to use electric appliances for cooking but alas, no moka for those sad days. That is when I began looking for an electric version and I found this one from DeLonghi. A good design, it keeps the classic design with some additions, now you put the moka in a plate with an on/off switch which starts the process. No difference in flavor or quality and a good addition for those who prefer electricity to heating on the stove. I should mention it is safer also since it only keeps running for 30 minutes unattended and then it switches off by itself, which I do not think you can do on a gas stove.Read full review
I've used stovetop Moka pots in the past, and they all work about the same, but I love the fact that the Alicia frees me from having to use the stove for my coffee! It's a sturdy little pot that brews a GREAT cup of coffee! The filter basket has an insert so you can brew 3 cups instead of 6 if you wish, which is great for me since I'm the only coffee drinker in my house! The pot is pretty easy to clean with just water, but make sure you let the prts dry completely before reassembly or you may get some corrosion start in the boiler!

This is my third one in 15 years. I would say one every 7 & 1/2 years is excellent life expectancy. I love this product or I wouldn't continually keep buying it.

Great travel coffee maker! Easy, well written instructions. Not too hard to clean either! Looking to get another to keep at work.

My world traveling sister brought her Alicia when she visited made lattes for us. It is simple and easy to use. While it doesn't have a steamer, you can microwave and whip milk for great lattes. Have had minor problems with leaking where the top screws on, but I think it is user error more than design. Great way to have convenient espresso to go.
