I did a lot of research for more than a year before I bought this espresso machine. I love the styling and the color. It also makes very good espresso. That's the good part. The negatives are that the instruction booklet is the worst one I have ever had for a product and it is very difficult to understand what the heck they are even talking about. So it took me quite a while to figure out how to make a cup of espresso. Once I finally did, it was pretty simple. The other negative is that water leaks out of the bottom when it is in the steam mode and you need to be careful to mop it up or else it gets into the bottom part of the machine and will damage the cardboard bottom. A metal bottom would have been a better choice for quality. Update: The good news is that it still looks stylish. The bad news is that it leaks worse than ever, the thermostat indicator stopped working after a year and a half, the pressure handle often falls off, the chrome finish is wearing off in places and the brass shows through. It still makes good coffee, but the lack of quality in the mechanism itself is very disappointing,Read full review

I've had my Ascaso Dream since 2007. Last espresso machine I had quit at 3 years and couldn't be fixed. I found this one on sale at a local coffee shop and couldn't pass it up for the price. I have to say I look forward to getting up every morning because of this machine. I even named her. My temp gauge quit and had to replace a t-stat just this month, after nearly 5 years of excellent service every day. Pressure is great, makes fantastic crema, parts are easy to find and cheap, it's easy to work on and operate and looks sexy on the counter. Couldn't be happier, highly recommend this machine. As long as I can keep her going, she's got a place here with me.
I have two people in my home that use this machine, we both love it. The pressure that the machine produces is more than the Frances Frances I had before. But they are built almost the same. I know because I have torn into the guts of them for minor repairs. Quality built for sure... I like the frother, it works very well. I like the versatility of single and double shot ability. The cast aluminum body is easy to keep clean. The brass boiler is better than the aluminum boilers. There may be better espresso machines, but really, I think it comes down to the person, not the machine at this level of quality.
Anaviscal hit it right on with the light/meter system, and I would echo Crviolins60ed about it just not making coffee hot enough! I have owned this machine for over two years, and it is a solid buy. Aside from what the other two did mention, just like most other entry level espresso machines, it is a single boiler unit. Meaning that it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to actually warm up, and after warm up, between pulling shots or steaming, you need to give you machine 30 seconds to a minute or so to reheat. Aside from that, take care of this baby and it will last forever.
This machine can make good coffee. However, the light/meter system, doesn't work as well as it should. Once the user learns the machine tricks, coffee can be excellent. Ascaso should make an effort to improve the light and meter system, so the user can consistently and efficiently aspire to make quality coffee.
Great machine. Looks great & makes great shots. It takes some time to get things right. Grind, & tamp make a big difference in the taste. Give it some time & try different things & eventually you'll get it right. I have had the machine for 6 months or so & use it once every morning. No issues so far.

The espresso machine was shipped quickly! The seller was easy easy to work with and understanding! I have loved using the machine. It was in excellent condition and works great just like the seller said!
I have owned and operated an espresso machine for 34 years, first living in Italy and then the States. The Ascaso makes a fine espresso though suffers from the same fate as most other machines. The machine does NOT make the espresso hot enough, even when the machine is left on for a long period of time. Besides this,I am happy with the results.
Nice little machine. Milk frosting is really nice! I like the machine for lattes but it's not hot enough to my tastes for espresso shots. I'll look into it.
