Get ready to absorb the controversial thing I'm about to say: As far as films and video games go, usually you can tell whether they're going to be good if they feature Nazi's as the enemy. Gamers find themselves dropped into German territory, surrounded by the most evil Political/Military party in History. Now if you add the famous "paranormal activity" Hitler was experimenting with, you have one scary game, for ADULTS. Could be better gameplay, Call of Duty has the best "shooter" engine so far....I hope Wolfenstein lives on. I was a fan ever since the days where you could rip down flags and find gold coins. Great title. The controls are legit, and the glitches are few and far between. GREAT GAME! You should own it just because it's a major part of gaming history, RE-INVENTED. Thanks! MBRead full review
Wolfenstein fulfilled my quenching for a newer type of game, and for a newer title version as well. It's great for a number of things: -The graphics exceed your expectations and look fantastic (depending on your TV) -The game play is COD style with much of the same controls but with a few extra tweaks. -As the game progresses you see a variety of enemies that get more challenging to beat and give you a run for your money if you can't figure it out. -The weapons system is revolutionary and provides a great way for you to get further into the game. -The supernatural powers give the game the extra bit it needs to be a decent play. -Enemy AI has you guessing...kind of. The bad: -Still a few bugs that will leave you stuck and with only a reset to get you out(I thought we were past this in next gen?) -Some of the levels draw on waaaay too long. -Though smooth, the game play lacks some convenience. -Supernatural powers still leave something to be needed. Overall, It's a great game with a lot more to it than one would think. The graphics are fantastic and have you staring at them more than the game. The missions get tedious and long, but the stuff in between and where you roam around is vast and sandboxy. It's great shooter with an RPG feel that will keep you occupied.Read full review
I am an avid Return To Castle Wolfenstein fan, and this is a blast from the past. Majority of the gameplay is identical to RTCW, but as for the plot, it is completely different. This updated version adds powers that flow into the storyline, that the original Wolfenstein 3D or RTCW did not have. You still recieve your expected MP40, MP43, Kar98, Panzerfaust and Flame thrower! The AI is more inteligent though, as in they will generate enemies to come up behind you when your not looking even though youve already been through the area. You are also able to shoot through walls and boxes, as expected. The powers that you are able to get are time slowing, mega damage from your bullets, going into another realm to see your enemies better, and also putting a shield all around you. Multiplayer is lacking when compared to Halo 3 or Left 4 Dead because there is a lot of lag. But Halo 3 and left for dead are server base, while this game is gamer host based. It takes a massive amount of time to load maps and when returning to the after game lobby. The weapons are upgradeable in single player and multiplayer. Overall, this is a great game in my eyes because I am a major Return to Castle Wolfenstein fan, and a first person shooter fan, so my opinion may be biased, but really enjoy this game even though its slow, laggy, not as intelligent and very traditional.Read full review
Following in the steps of Bioshock this is yet another shooter with a "powers" gimmick. This by no means results in a bad game, but it's far from an award winner. Solid 6, maybe a 7 if you really like the Nazi era style of game or are otherwise very much into Wolfenstein installments.

This is a great game for hard-core Wolfenstein fans (like me). The graphics are decent, the controls are good, and the AI is average (at best). The multiplayer is definitely dated by todays standards, and the graphics also seem hindered when playing multiplayer. I knew all of this before I bought the game however, because I love Wolfenstein. The game is good in my opinion (campaign mode only), but I would not recommend this game for non-Wolfenstein fans. I really like this game, but I can't believe that the makers of Wolfenstein thought that this game would actually outsell madden 2010, because this is just an average FPS at best.
Wolfenstein is a very nice addition to the lore of wolfenstein and the fact that you can free roam and upgrade your weapons is stellar, the veil modes are very handy with the new enemy types ranging from zombies to dark troopers and the boss's in this game are plentiful, spaced evenly, not to easy, not to hard, just right. The Maps are awesome some may disagree with this statement but the fact is your in a german city in the middle of WWII Nazi's everywhere and you have a map to get around with but getting lost is something hard not to do (thank you waypoints) and this is how it should be, to me it gives more realism. The textures and mapping are nicely blended and the cut scenes are like they said, "movie like" you can even pause them. *Multiplayer on the other hand was a step back (Compared to Return to Castle Wolfenstein) yes you get to upgrade but it fails to bring the lore back, I am not saying you cant have fun you can have plenty of that but it has some very poor quality maps and the objective based modes do breathes new life in multiplayer. *Note: That this review on multiplayer is based on the Xbox 360 Version and is suggested that you play the multiplayer modes on the PC Version I give this a 4**** out of 5***** I hope to see the next installment sooner then what we had to wait for this oneRead full review
This game is no COD but its not really the same. It has a real vintage look and the weapons are very cool, well the nazi tech guns are cool. The only thing I don't really like is the looking for gold to upgrade your weapons. The game takes place in a small town so you dont really go any other place but it was not really a problem for me. I would 100% get the second part to this game which they hint at towards the very end. I would give this game a 7.5 or 8.0 out of 10.
Recently I got Wolfenstein, even though the game has been out for three years now or so it's kept me hooked and entertained. I had been wanting to get it for some time now and I'm glad I did as it's the story line is very addicting - the gameplay is easy to pick up and you won't want to put down the controller as you'll want to play for hours and hours. Two thumbs up! Addicting game - Totally Recommended!!
I just love this game, you have an eminse world to explore. You shoot, and bash your way though out the world fight germans and german secret weapons. You can even use axes to chop off arms, heads, legs. You can shot of arms, heads and leg. And grenads blow just about everything off. I bought this game excpecting something like the old comupter game. But i was wrong. It's better. This game makes you want more Stuff tho explore and shot. Every turn in the game is something to do. You will not be dissappointed with this game. So buy your copy today and start shooting.
The Wolfenstein franchise has from its conception, been one of the most alluring and exciting first person shooter ever! With its action packed gameplay and fantastic mix of History and fantasy it keeps you thrilled to the bone. It's excellent! And I will be back!
