When I was growing up I used to play this game (or attempt to) whenever I would visit my cousins. They were a few years older than me and had a lot more NES games than I did. I was exposed to a lot of great games through their purchases (Little Nemo, Demon Sword, Final Fantasy) but this game always stood out. Though I have always had fond memories of the game, I didn't think to hunt it down for my collection until recently. I remembered this game to be insanely hard. It really isn't. It just takes a little patience and farming when you find which guys drop health. The controls take a little getting used to as well. The game has a sense of humor that keeps it interesting while the levels seem to get more redundant. It's a relatively short game that can be beat in a half hour or so if you know what you're doing. I admit I may be more attached to Monster Party from a nostalgic perspective but overall it's a fun game and definitely worth adding to your collection if you can get it cheap. Since it wasn't a super popular or rare game, around 10 bucks is totally worth the price of admission for this sleeper.Read full review
Monster Party is a very strange game released by Bandai for the NES in 1989. You play as a young boy named Mark who is given the quest to save the Dark World from evil creatures by a friendly gargoyle named Bert. Gameplay consists of running around multiple horror-cliche themed levels on a 2D plane, traversing platforms, destroying minor enemies, and defeating bosses to obtain keys to progress to the next level. The bosses range from the expected (Medusa, Mummy) to completely nonsensical (Onion Rings, Shrimp, Eggplant Well). The game is very difficult (definitely an "NES Hard" title) but can be bested with the help a walkthrough and good hand-eye coordination. If you do manage to complete Monster Party, prepare yourself for one of the oddest, most macabre endings in video game history. Monster Party is a funny, solid title for the NES that any gamer who enjoys NES games can appreciate.Read full review
This is a silly horror game with tongue and cheek humor. It is considered a cult classic among collectors and with good reason. Their is blood in the game and monsters but very silly. I can't recommend this one for children more for teens. So if your ready for a challenge and don't mind some weird content pick this one up!

Monster party, is one of those games that is also overlooked and is a must play for someone looking for the unusual. Unforgettable and corky gameplay, great graphics and music for the NES. It's price should not be inflated and exceed no more than $14.99
