It is worth noting the Eton Field BT is an improved version of the original Eton Grundig Edition. The way to tell them apart is the Grundig Edition logo is no longer on the front panel, just Field BT in the upper right corner. The main improvements include a new excellent 3-way speaker, shielded DSP chip, improved reception in the upper half of the AM/MW band and smoother tuning encoder. The Grundig Edition had a problem with volume dropping off when tuning above about 1000 kHz. Weak stations volume are very low and blaring loud when tuning a strong local stations. Very annoying. The new model has improved this issue considerably. While sound quality has always been very good, it is even better on the new model thanks to a 3-way speaker that has an integrated woofer, mid-range and tweeter. In my Grundig Edition, I was hearing some spurious noises across the bands generated by the DSP chip. This issue has been solved by shielding the DSP chip. FM and SW reception is as good as any current portable receiver I own, and I have quite a few. RDS works very well and Bluetooth is easy to pair. I would give this radio 5 stars if it had a numeric keypad but the Q tune key makes it easy to move through each band. The tuning knob has coarse tuning on the outer ring and fine tuning on the inner knob. You can select tuning steps from the keypad. Whole some other all band portable radios have more bandwidths, there is only wide or narrow for AM and SW. For broadcast listening this is helpful. This radio doesn't receive SSB which is unfortunate but just know that before buying. I traded my original Grundig Edition for another radio but this new Field BT is much better and I'm keeping it. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 All I can say is that I own two other Eton Grundig radios and as with this field bt model they are all top quality the best I’ve ever experienced in 60 years. I love the Eton Mini and Eton Traveler iii But needed a more substantial unit for party music that’s why I chose the Field BT it is pretty heavy but not so much that it’s difficult to maneuver etc. won’t easily fall over which is great I would classify it as a portable tabletop lol 😝 This model is well worth the higher cost than many other brands but you get what you pay for. If you need a great quality radio with superb sound and all the features possible look no further. Best radio I’ve ever owned 💕

I really like this radio. Given that my local AM talk radio station is 50k watts, and only about 30 miles away, I had to turn the RF Gain way down to get rid of the distortion. Mostly, I got it to use out by our pool this summer, where I can plug it into an AC outlet in the pool house, but it's also a good backup when our power goes out during a snowstorm. Sure, an old AM/FM battery operated transistor radio can be used during power outtages, but the one I have doesn't have clock/alarm, or RF Gain funtionality, so AM sometimes gets distorted. I wouldn't leave this thing in the pool house all summer, especially with batteries in it, given the humidity, but it's very portable, and is a much better option than cranking any of various stereo components out the patio door, so i can hear it all the way down at the pool. Also, it's useful for camping. This does not have all the functionality, or collective bandwidth, of my Icom R5000 (which is a large, heavy, rack model), but for something portable, it's all I need. Thumbs up for this little Eton.Read full review
