This is a wonderful collection of the early writings of Laura Ingalls Wilder. I started reading first by subject - "poultry" interested me because I have a small flock of chickens - and I found Mrs. Wilder's viewpoints very instructive and interesting. I felt like I was getting letters from a friend, a very knowing and wise friend and I wish there was someone like Laura writing for our newspapers today. I have loved the Little House books for many years and have tried to read all of the books about Laura, but this one is the closest I have ever felt to knowing and understanding this marvelous pioneer farm woman. I have visited Rocky Ridge Farm several times but I have a better understanding of that farm and early twentieth century farming after reading the book than I had by seeing what is left of the actual farm. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the author for compiling these marvelous columns from the Ruralist newspaper.Read full review
