To start with I am big fan of The New Pornographers. Challengers is their fourth album. For starters if you like the band you will not be disappointed in buying any of their cds. This band is very rich in talent. Power pop with lots of hooks and great harmonies. Challengers is a very good CD. There are at least 5 really good songs. Maybe not as good as Twin Cinema but still scores big. My favorite CD of theirs is The Electric Version. The New Pornographers is an indie band but it would not surprise if they broke out onto a bigger stage. Maybe they like the freedom to control and express themselves being indie. Time will tell. Artiest who influenced them. Diffidently Beatlesque. I hear Amie Mann, Elliott Smith, Del Amitri, Crowded House. AC is great at using hooks. Bejar has his own uniqueness with writing and singing. I love every album they have done. There are almost no songs I skip and I am very picky. I was a musician for 20 years so I know what I'm talking about.

Once I got over the name of the group, I really enjoyed it. I bought the CD in search of the song "Adventures in Solitude" the song had been done by the group " The New Pornographers". This album was released in 2007 and I had little difficulty finding it on ebay. Of the twelve songs, all but one were good, easy to listen to. Of course, "Adventures in Solitude" was the major song and I really like it.
After seeing this group on David Letterman, thought I just had to have one of their CD;s, this is a great CD and comes highly recommend to purchase. Good music that unlike most new music out these days will be enjoyed for a long time. Nothing too rock and the voices of all the singers in the group are pretty darn good. I may be back to purchase a different CD of the same group
The New Pornographers' newest CD is first rate. "Challengers" is full of epic, catchy tracks. Buy it, it's worth it.
