The plastic slot in the middle, which holds disc 2, had its hinges snap. I don't know if that was during shipping or what, but I have to be pretty careful when putting this away. Funny and engaging, rare silent-era cartoons, finally available for public view after 70 years.
Great to see these long prevented-from-view cartoons finally released from imprisonment in the Disney vaults, not that it was Disney's fault -- it was Universal's! However, if Disney hadn't lost the rights to Oswald, he never would have created Mickey Mouse, so I guess all's well that ends well. Great historical treasure
This DVD set is a great retrospective on the often forgotten history of Disney's first true mascot character. The first disc contains most of Disney's Oswald cartoons made in 1927-1928. The second disc contains a fantastic documentary on Ub Iwerks who was instrumental in the success of Oswald and later Mickey Mouse.
