If you are serious about Biblical studies, you need a copy of the Septuagint, the translation of the Old Testament and Apocrypha which was accomplished some time around 200 BCE. Many of the writers of the New Testament spoke or read Greek only, and they consulted this version of the OT, not the Hebrew. Indeed, most of the quotes in the NT from the OT are from this Greek version. So, this is essential for extended study of the New Testament as well as study of the Old Testament itself. Since this translation was done so many centuries ago, it more accurately reflects the mind set of ancient peoples than newer translations. Until Hendrickson published this volume, it was not easy to find an affordable copy of the Septuagint. Now it is readily available. The Greek text is highly readable, and the accompanying English translation by Sir Lancelot Brenton is very straightforward, making it easier to understand the Greek. This may not be for the casual reader, but the student of Scriptures who is truly committed to in-depth study will find himself reaching for this tome again and again. It's a bargain at its full list price of about $45, but you're likely to find it at an even better price on ebay. Highly recommended!Read full review
First off, I absolutely love that it includes Apocrypha. But, I wish it included the New Testament in addition to the Old Testament. And though it's great that it has the Old Testament and Apocrypha in Greek, it'd be that much better if it were also in Hebrew, like the Interlinear Bible which has Old and New Testament in Hebrew, Greek, and English, making translation available to the diligent readers and Scholars. All in all, this is an invaluable purchase and must have for any Bible scholar.

Good adjunct but would like to see more definitions of words from Greek explained. It is an excellent start to better understanding some of the words from the traditional bible versions.
