Excellent documentary about a Long Island family who cannot cope with the father's pedophilia (and really who could?). But worse is that the youngest son is accused and arrested for the same crimes. The main thought for me was "should the sins of the father be visited upon the son". I really do not believe the son was guilty even though he confessed to it (see Marty Tankleff). I still can't decide if the police were forcing the children to testify or just over zealous and reacting to community pressure. The chief detective in the documentary appears to be narrow minded and the judge says she was convinced of their guilt w/o hearing any evidence! Amazing. The long used and over used phrase "Innocent until proven guilty." has no basis here and in fact in this modern age of trial by media it should really be guilty until proven innocent. The youngest son Jesse is now out of jail and attempting to have a normal life but will always be a registered sex offender so how normal could it possibly be. The DVD has other materials as well, including a great interview with Charlie Rose and the film's director. I bought this DVD because it was hard to find to rent.Read full review
This is a very disturbing documentary about a family falling apart and trying to keep everything together when the father is accused and found guilty of a unforgivable crime. Very nicely presented, candid filming of an interview in the home with the family present with an extremely sad ending. Not for the faint of heart.
