I bought the first 4 seasons of "Corner Gas" based on the reviews that I read. I like to watch things from many different genres and humor levels. "Corner Gas" is really special because it is clean and innocent. Think "Green Acres", "Petty Coat Junction" - clean. But it takes place after 2,000 A.D. "Corner Gas" doesn't rely on any meanness. "Corner Gas" is never dumb, or childish. There is quit a bit of dry humor. There are 8 main characters in the little town of Dog River. The gas station owner (I think he's Carl), his parents, Wanda -who works for him-, the lady that owns the dinner (Lacy), two cops, and a guy (Hank) who always hangs around. I've only watched the first season and part of the second, so far. They've not shown a dog or a river, yet. This tiny town, which pops up in the farm country, has very little going on. Yet they make a lot of comedy about the little parts of life. I find that when I watch an episode then I'll watch another episode or two, before I stop. There's no action, no cussing, no killing, no wild tales, no F/X, just a group of people whose lives revolve around the Corner Gas and its business neighbors. I love "South Park", "The Simpson's", Married with Children", ... But I can't think of such a clean, smooth comedy being made since Bob Newhart was a psychologist on "The Bob Newhart Show" back in the early 70's. So, if you want a great comedy- especially one that's not mean, crass, and perverted- This is a great choice. "Corner Gas" is a better comedy then most anything you can find on TV or cable, right now.Read full review

love this tv show. caught a few shows on wgn. wish it was picked up in the states. love the goofy dry humor. love the fact there is no "fake audience " laugh at every punchline joke. way to go brent and cast of corner gas. dont forget to pick up all 6 seasons and brents new show hiccups. after you watch some of these youll be saying jackass all the time and laughing. some of us at work have picked a close town. everytime its name is said, we spit as a tribute/joke. youll know what thats about after watching.
All seasons of Corner Gas are worth it-- although the language choices and patterns are not US standard, the small town isolationism, the way Leroy and his father avoid bonding, and the incredibly dysfunctional relationship between Leroy and Lacey-- it all rings true in an odd sort of way. Don't start with season three, hop back and start with the first episode of season one, and follow it in order. By the time you get to season three you'll be hooked and won't need this review.
Very funny. Great characters. The wit used in the show is second to none.
