About this product

Product Information

Modems supplied by Comcast and other cable companies often provide less than reliable service. When you factor in the monthly rental fee over a period of years, rented modems can actually be quite expensive. Purchasing your own modem eliminates the monthly rental fees you are currently paying to Comcast or another cable provider. The Cisco Linksys DOCSIS (DPC3008-CC) 348.16 Mbps modem offers a simple design, but provides reliable performance. The Linksys DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem offers a Gigabit Ethernet port for wired connection speeds that are 10 times faster than Fast Ethernet. Enjoy Gigabit Ethernet speeds through a single port and a cable port to connect to the Internet. Connect your computer to the connection for wired access to the Internet. You can add a router to the Ethernet connection to create your own home wireless network. This modem enhances networking in your home with fast speeds to power your laptops, tablets and other electronics and mobile devices. The signal strength is sufficient to provide reliable wireless service for all your devices. You will never have to worry about poor connectivity or slow Internet speeds when you upgrade your existing modem to this model. The Linksys DOCSIS DPC3008 delivers high speed broadband with high bandwidth transfer speeds via your existing cable ISP. The modem features channel bonding technology to produce download speeds of up to 340 Mbps and upload speeds of 120 Mbps. You will enjoy sufficient speeds for streaming HD media, media sharing, gaming, or just surfing the Internet. The DPC3008 cable modem supports DOCSIS 3.0, 2.0 and 1.1 to enable you to enjoy high bandwidth transfer rates through your existing broadband connection. The Ipv6 Internet Protocol supplies the latest Internet Protocol technologies to help you maintain an updated connection and consistent lag free throughput. This model provides advanced technologies and state of the art components and software. The network standards include DOCSIS 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0, 802.3 and 802.3u. The Linksys DPC3008 has three ports for power, Ethernet and cable and the cable connector is an F-type Female 75 ohm connector. There is a reset button and LEDs to indicate power, DS, US, online and link. The DCP3008 modem works with cable broadband Internet service, not DSL, and requires an existing cable account for broadband service. This model can be found in a store that sells computer accessories or purchased online with even better deals. Online payment options include major credit cards and gift cards. This product is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. The cable modem comes with a power adapter, Ethernet cable, and a CD with the user guide. The Linksys DPC3008-CC cable modem is easy to set up without the need for a CD or additional software or accessories. This modem is certified by Comcast and compatible with most major providers of cable broadband service. Plug in the modem and connect it to your computer or laptop and the existing cable output. Once everything is connected, you will need to contact the customer service department of your cable provider to activate the modem. After everything is connected, you can monitor the modem’s performance with the LED indicator lights on the front of the modem.

  • My Opinion

This modem had good specs , ability to handle high speed to a point , and was easy to hook up. I hooked it up and turned it on , and restarted everything and it jumped in and took off....I noticed a little quicker speed per click , but I attribute that to the modem not Comcast......Comcast has your speed capped at what ever your paying for so this modem can handle their 30mbs,150mbs, all the way to 393mbs ..... Its will save the Comcast user 10 bucks a month add them up and see how long it will take to Pay for its self and save you Money !!!!!! Cheers !

  • Cisco DPC3008 Docsis 3.0 Cable Modem for Comcast

This modem arrived and I brought it (and the old rented DPC3008 modem) to Comcast. They recorded the address of the new modem and I returned home. I plugged the new modem in and attached the cables. I was told that I would turn on my computer and launch a web page with my browser and that I would have to enter information to Xfinity. But what happened was I launched the browser and it was on the internet immediately. It has been working fine ever since (it's been 3 weeks now). I highly recommend this product.

  • Easy as 1,2,3 to set up

    1. Called Comcast 800-934-6489, tell them Activate Modem. 2. They verify my account 3. Give them the Model: Linksys CM2024, CM MAC (on modem) and serial (on modem) Waited about 5 minutes, they reset, then download their current firmware, All the lights blink and then go steady. LEDs top to bottom: Power = green Down stream = blue high speed (green regular) Up stream = blue high speed (green regular) Status = green Internet = blue, blinking activity Great modem!

  • EZ PZ

This process for getting this setup is not rocket science... 1. Remove from box (3 things... modem, power cable, ethernet cable) 2. Connect power to modem. 3. Connect (previously used) Ethernet to new modem. 4. Call Internet company (Time Warner Cable[or whatever they go by now], verified my account, and I gave them the information on the back of my modem) 5. Wait 2 minutes 6. Internet connection successful This was a huge cost savings from renting a modem, and it is a very good quality modem!

  • Overall good, weird reboot cycle

Super fast. I'm getting excellent speeds. Setup was weird because this thing takes FOREVER to reboot , and it doesn't warn you that it's rebooting... it just does it a million times during setup. So be prepared for a good hour to configure it with Comcast. Ugh. Otherwise, it would be 5 star.

  • not good for gaming

the modem is nice and fast compared to the DOCSIS 2.0 modem I replaced with it. but if you get more than one or two connections going (say web surfing, and running a virtual world client) the modem resets itself. this also happens in online gaming (I was in a co-op game with three other people). After a few minutes, the modem reset itself and kicked me out. I checked the firmware revision for this modem. the firmware is from Jan. of 2012. from what I have been reading on forums about it, this is an old firmware with many issues. so I can't recommend this modem for gamers, but for the light web surfing and such. It is good.

  • Linksys CM3008 cable modem

Works as advertised. Works far better than the previous router/modem that I had "rented" from the cable company, which constantly either crashed or lost the signal, despite it being about 10 feet away from my laptop. Two issues with this modem are of concern: (1) it runs/feels either warm or hot and (2) the lights on the modem can be disturbing at night within a dark bedroom.

  • New Modem

I upgrade my modem to 3.0. seems to connect faster, I'm rather impressed with LINKSYS product. This was my first. Surprised their were so many to choose from. I just needed the basic modem for home computer. Small compact, Performs well and easy to set up for me 65 yr old, not very computer literate.

  • Great Deal

Bought this as a backup to the Motorola modem. Hooked it up and Cox Cable took a few minutes to register. Tested it for a couple days and now the Motorola is my backup! The speed is the same at 1/6th the price. Very pleased with this modem.

  • "Works well and has steady fast pc modem connection"

Setup of this item was easy after Xfinity installation tech came to my home office to run another cable internet line upstairs since downstairs I was using a wireless interface. I added the Linskys DPC 3.0 cable modem to wire my internet connection at the upper level in my home and once I connected it to setup to get online, it configured fast and easy to my Xfinity server. I had no technical issues when I called Xfinity and added this modem device to my Xfinity account with the serial and MAC #.
