Tivo review
The DVR worked good but Tivo service would not activate it because they don't activate Tivo series 3 and below . So unless you do like I did and take the hard drive out and put it in one you already have that I activated two years ago before they quit activating the older ones . The one I have went out and it was a bad hard drive. So I switched hard drives with the one I got on eBay and reset and deleted everything on it and my old one works great. If you don't reset and delete it won't record. It will keep giving you a hardware error. Just thought this might be helpful to someone who doesn't know.

Its an oldie but a goodie
What use could am analog tivo be you may wonder? This is the last available model that offered an IR blaster to control the set-top box. I am using mine to control a direct TV tuner and it's a lot cheaper than the $25 fee that DirecTV charges just to have access to a digital box. And if I got another one and stuck it in my bedroom then it shares the shows. Plus it supports the tivo desktop plus software so I can transfer to my computer or phone for storage. Its also really fast. it may be low res but who cares?

TIVO series 2 DVRS make great boat anchors if they have not been previously activated.
TIVO no longer supports activation on this level (series 2) DVR. So it makes a great boat anchor, but some effort should be made by EBAY to validate products that are sold through their channels. TIVO series 2 DVRS should not be sold through EBAY unless they have been previously activated.
