Better than the new ones.
These are so much better than the new ones Lionel is importing from Vietnam. The springs work, and the couples will couple with all Lionel equipment. They add an extra $30 to the cost of the newer Lionel cars, but if you want your new stuff to work with your existing stuff, they might just be worth it. These all-diecast trucks are a major upgrade for most 3-rail O Gauge freight cars. Especially those produced in the 1980's - 90's having plastic trucks (though almost all did have metal wheels and axles). Rotating bearing cap trucks
Bought these to replace a truck that broke apart under normal running conditions. Looks like the casting was porous and broke apart while on flat and level track...hope this is a onetime problem, not a trend. The bearing caps also tend to fall off.
