FORGET ABOUT SCISSORS.....
THESE ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST WAY TO CUT BRAIDED LINE. ALL OTHER CUTTERS DULL VERY QUICKLY, I HAVE TRIED THEM ALL. THIS PRODUCT JUST MAKES SENSE...."wish I tried this years ago". Nice cuts. BYO Lanyard
Makes a very clean and quick no-fray cut in braid. Unlike using a flame, there is no bubble (but I kind of liked the bubble at the end as I imagined it might serve as a "stop" if the knot slipped) or risk of the burn creeping too far on the line. I have used it only for a week so I do no know about durability but the filament is apparently fragile and I am certain this tool must be used with care. The push-slide mechanism that extends the filament is well placed and it puts the filament into just the right position to make easy cuts close to the knot. The lanyard is too short to put around your neck so it is essentially worthless. But if it keeps working for even one season, this cutter will be worth the $10 since it saves time and makes great sealed cuts in braided line. In the future I would like to see a more robust cutting filament and a longer lanyard. And I see no reason it can't be made smaller.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Does not last.
This is 3 times I have purchased this item, and they only last aprox 10 times of use??? I have been told by the Berkley company that in May 2018 they will be coming out with a new model that is powered with 2 AA batteries.not 3 AAA batteries? They say that the wires on the inside are heavier and should not be a problem???? I hope so, as the line cutter is a great idea, but only when ( IT WORKS)???? I personally think I should get one of the new models for free when they come out for sale? WHAT ARE THE CHANCES???? I come from Maine and we have a lot of fisherman in our state,like me, that are probably not very happy with the old product. Thanks for hearing my side. Not what you think
When i seen the product i thought qyi k wayy to empty old line off the spool but when i lay the wire again the line it basically stops working to the point the wire gets stuck in the line on the spool and pulls out the insert for the wire.
