Best Pencil in the World
If you like writing with a pencil and have been frustrated by cheap pencils made today look no more! The Palomino Blacking 602 Pencil is the only one I use now. Moving the lead across the paper is effortlessly smooth. This is Palomino's "hard" lead, but you don't have to press hard to get a dark line. It is like a soft lead to other brands. Palomino soft leads seem good for artists as I have used them too. When you sharpen the pencil it is straight as an arrow avoiding the frustrating broken point experienced by those cheap pencils that have crooked lead that grinds down to nothing. The Palomino pencil is shaped not to fall off the table and the eraser is soft, but holds up to erase completely. When someone borrows my pencil they look at it inquisitively at its shape and are astonished at the quality of how it functions. This pencil raises the mark for how a real, honest-to-goodness pencil should be made. If you never tried it, you don't know what you are missing. Blackwing's lightest
This is probably the most versatile of the three grades of Blackwing. I use the Blackwing for drawing and the regular gives me true darks that are smooth and not messy the way normal 6B pencils are. The Blackwing Pearl gives me a great range of darks up to about a B grade (always depending on the type of paper used) and with the 602 I can achieve everything else I need in a drawing. My guess is that all the legends such as Steinbeck and Bernstein who used Blackwing used the 602.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

smooth and dark
These Palomino Blackwing pencils are great for my use. I sketch and draw a lot for both personal enjoyment and my work. I am a window painter and I also teach the art on you tube. I create animated characters and signage for storefronts. Sometimes I will sketch out characters and designs and the 602 is awesome for that!
