Genesis Motors in old Blue Box Trainmasters
I actually installed, with a little improvisation, two of these motors in two old Athearn Blue Box FM Trainmasters using Genesis drive lines and worm gears, NWSL replacement wheels and NEC DCC decoders. Genesis Retro Motor
Good quality silent motor I've come to expect in an Athearn Genesis motor. I installed it along with new drive shafts and worm gears in an old Athearn Blue Box loco. It toot a little work with a Dremel to make mods to fit the motor in but was worth it. Athearn Genesis Motor Retrofit
Installed in Athearn RTR (Sound Ready) SD-45. Replaced board in the retrofit kit with a Soundtrax DCC/sound board. Only problem I had was the Soundtrax board is loose on the clips on the retrofit motor. A must have for Athearn blue box locos
This is the same motor Athearn puts in all their high end locomotives. I use this in all my blue box rebuilds. Combined with A-line #12034 drive line and Athearn #40028 metal wheels is a winning combo for a smooth running loco. Bonus is it 9 pin plug and play for your dcc or RAILPRO decoders.
