Purchased an Amco Swing-A-Way can opener 6090. Easy to use. Opens cans with minimum effort which is great for us older folks with a little arthritis. The only draw back is that the cutting disc is a little on the blunt side. So the initial penetration into the can requires careful placement of the opener on the can and a good squeeze to punch through the lid. If you don't get it right the can lip might bend so you need to go and try another spot on the can. But the leverage from the crank handle is terrific and makes up for any drawback from the cutting disc. I improved mine by tapering the angle on the cutting disc on my hobby lathe in the garage. Easy to do and now the opener works even better.

This brand used to had a great quality standard, but with the time that standard is dropping. This can opener is good for big cans like I said in the title, but sometimes, I get annoying for the small ones. The real problem could be that the company may be cutting costs with cheaper materials, and they don't last like used to be in the past. I'm still having can openers from this company the old ones with more than 20 years that still working in a pretty decent way, and I bought new ones, that got broken in less than 2 years. PS: That's bad!, that's all.

I bought this Swing-A-Way after replacing their other openers with the normal handle which didn't hold up, especially when opening #10 cans. I tried another recommended opener, and it lasted less time than the Swing-A-Way openers. I decided to give this unit, with the large handle a try. So far I have been impressed on the ease on how it handled the #10 cans, both piercing the lid and the ease of cutting with the large crank. It opened the can in short order. My wife has opened regular cans and is quite satisfied with its performance. Time will tell on how well the cutting edge on the wheel will hold up. After some time, the other Swing-A-Ways started to climb off the edge of the can rather than cutting the lid. This unit has longer handles which should give greater leverage to grip the can to help avoid this problem. But we've been pleased so far.Read full review

I have been completely fed up with hand crank can openers that operate like a child's toy and ready for the trash can after the 2nd use, In the past I have purchased reliable 1970s antique can openers in order to get a well-made reliable CanOpener, I have missed placed My dependable 70s Can Opener so I decided to search eBay again I noticed swing away easy crank CanOpener it was a little bit pricey but most of the time quality comes with a higher price, after receiving my swing away can opener I used it a number of times it's 'Hands-down' the best can opener I've ever owned in my life it's very well-made and the gear ratio open cans 'Very fast' I usually don't write reviews but this item deserves one, if you're thinking about buying a Very good CanOpener don't hesitate to buy this one.

I’m a healthy & happy 74 year old...with 74 year old hands. No rheumatoid arthritis, just not enough strength to keep loving my old “turn the spinning knob” model. Didn’t even realize this non-electric version existed, BUT would it just be different, yet still difficult? Color me happy. I love it; just what I needed.

Comfortable handle, easy to turn crank, opens large cans with ease, one gallon cans are easy to open with ease. I love it and I don't have to hold up big cans or worry about them falling off of an electric opener. I have swingaway products from the 70's they make great items. My hands have RA and this helps a whole lot !!! Great Product

FINALLY! A can opener that is easy to use, great for arthritis hands. My first impression was this is much lighter than ones I used in the past. Was worried Inwould be disappointed. But the blade is sharp, the handle very easy to operate, and latches onto can easily. I have bought five can openers in the last few months. Including electric . None even comes close to this one!

This thing opens 2-3x faster than my electric can opener and is super easy to crank. I prefer this to an electric. Works just as well on really small tomato paste cans as it does to large kidney beans cans. I really like it and well worth the purchase.

It is a can opener. It opens cans. It works well and is easier to operate than most can openers I have used. I like it better than an electric can opener. When finished, the can and detached lid will have some sharp edges but if you are not smart enough to know to handle these carefully, then you probably should not be operating a can opener anyway. Again, it is a can opener and you use it to open cans. It will not bring an end to the war in Syria, alleviate the resulting refugee crisis, or halt the spread of the Zika virus. It is good for opening cans.

Because of the design, you can't screw this can opener up. If it wears out, you can get a rebuild kit. My folks has some of these and the short handle that are over 50 years old and the have been rebuilt a couple of times. The long handle "Commercial" opener makes it really easy for for smaller or older people to open even the biggest cans..
