Definitive Technology BP10B Floor Standing Speakers

About this product

Product Information

Definitive Technology BP10 speakers offer an immersive acoustic experience that allows you to get the most out of your home theater setup. Each handsome, floor-standing tower loudspeaker measures 12.2 by 8 by 42 inches and weighs 56 pounds. Cabinets are black in color and sport a high-gloss finish with a wrap-around black grille cloth. The edgeless design of these electronic components helps to control acoustic distortion and to keep unwanted resonance to a minimum. Foam dampening pads and internal braces also aid in producing an optimal sonic effect. Though they take up less than one square foot of space apiece, these cabinets provide twice the auditory power of conventional speakers. The Definitive logo is posted on the bottom front of the productThe secret behind this audio equipment's impressive performance is rear- and front-firing driver speaker arrays that project full-range audio. The orientation of these drivers helps ensure that sound permeates a room in all directions from its source. Each loudspeaker array includes a 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter that’s designed to optimize the frequency response of higher notes. These aluminum domes are enveloped by a silk surround, which helps to ensure a high-quality acoustic experience. Audio from the front drivers reaches listeners’ ears first, thanks to a 6.5-inch mid-bass driver. Rear drivers produce bass notes that are very slightly delayed. This mimics the real-life experience of sitting in a concert hall. These magnesium-alloy basket drivers also produce extremely pure midrange notes. The high-definition drivers responsible for reproducing bass and midrange notes incorporate vented voice coils and sturdy magnetic structures. The cast-magnesium basket in which these drivers are housed modulates the release of sonic waves in a manner that minimizes distortion. This results in a unique immersive effect that’s particularly well suited for home theater setups. The Definitive Technology BP10 speaker system has been dubbed bipolar because of its two radiating sound sources, one in the front and one in the rear. With two sets of drivers, music sounds as though it is emitting from all directions. This means you get to experience the true sonic spectrum of the orchestral and vocal compositions of the music you are playing. This electronic equipment also has a relatively low impedance of 4 - 8 ohms, so you can freely turn up the volume on these loudspeakers without danger of blowing out your system. To augment their unique bipolar radiation properties, place your Definitive Technology BP10B loudspeakers 5 feet to 7 feet apart. They should each be set approximately 5 inches to 36 inches from your rear wall. This allows sound waves to bounce off your rear wall so they can radiate more effectively throughout the room. The space on either side of each speaker should be left clear to minimize interference. Angling the speakers slightly toward each other may also improve the quality of the auditory experience you enjoy. Input receivers for amplifiers, TVs, DVD players, and other types of electronic equipment are located on the Definitive Technology BP10 speakers’ rear panels.

  • Great speakers

The BP10 speakers are great sounding speakers, I have a set of BP8s that sound great but,the BP10s are awsome. They are bi-amp wired and the mids are awsome!! You really do not need a sub with the BP10s. The bass is great. I am using the BP10s [front] in my home theater system. BP8s for the rears and an 8040 center channel. All Definitive Technology!! Movies and music sound live!! Smooth jazz sounds great on these speakers. I am more than pleased that I purchased these speakers!! I do not know why Def.Tech quit making the BP10s. Thank You for a great set of speakers!!

  • Impressed!!

Upgraded from a pair of DT StudioMonitor 350s. Nice to be able to get such a large increase in performance while still integrating with the rest of the speakers in the surround system with ease. I love the way the bi-polar design fills the room with a soundstage much larger than expected. I've owned/own many Def Tech speakers and am always impressed with their ability to punch above their weight so to speak.

  • BP10s. A classic, BASSY speaker.

Used as a replacement for the Organ in St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC during renovations, the BP10s have plenty of bass and crispy his and mids. If you've ever listened to the organ in St. Patrick's I can see why they were used. They are a classic.
