Received drive in excellent time. Hooked up drive to existing Windows 7 computer system, but it was not recognized by the computer system. I then connected it externally to the computer in order duplicate the internal Windows 7 drive, but in doing so the power shorted out and the electronics board became very hot and began melting the power connector, and heating the power cable wires. I put the drive aside for now, with the conclusion that the drive is unusable.

These drives are great for basic everyday computing. If you have an older computer and are looking to upgrade to a faster drive with a larger capacity, the Western Digital Blue series is a good way to go. They're available in a variety of capacities from 80GB all the way to 1 TB. For the price, this 320GB model with 16MB of cache is a great value and provided a noticeable speed increase as well as some additional capacity to my grandma's computer.

I was able to get the hd for a good average Ebay price. Which is great as Western Digital at full retail is still the best bang for buck going. Let's face it all harddrives come within nanoseconds of being equal in access times and seek times. So what has always made Western Digital my choice? They are built like tanks. They are built old school to last not be disposable after a hundred hours or so of use. These things go for years and years. It installed easily into my Win 7 system and now is helping do full duty. I have owned only Western Digital since 1998 when I started building all my computers myself.
Drive arrived quickly. I installed, partitioned and formatted it. I ran an extended test on it and it passed with no bad sectors. Looks new. Great Price. Would buy again.

I needed a boot drive for my Dell Precision T7400. I installed this one, booted to a Windows install DVD and installed Windows to this drive. It installed perfectly and has been running fine since. There's not much to write about: physically, I popped this into a caddy, slid the caddy into a drive bay caddy; connected the SATA power cable and the SATA control cable; electronically, Windows did the format of the drive and the install of Windows. The rest has been testing: booting, running, shutting down. All without issue.
