excellent product
when I'm downstairs where the main router/ wifi unit is located my phone still prefers the Actiontec wireless. I know the other reviews said there is no antennae so don't expect much in the way of wireless, and yes it kicks ass with the Ethernet (no lag on black ops anymore even when we have two players on our unit) but I am also surprised with the wireless. I also have a unit that I rented from Verizon, which also works great for Ethernet but I think the Actiontec works better for wireless. It seems to be an older unit so that I can see "Actiontec" as a wireless choice but one from Verizon seems to merge with the wireless that I already have, making it stronger. Great way to boost your WiFi Signal!
The Actiontec Dual Wireless Network Extender is a great way to get your WiFi Signal directly from your Cable TV service! Frontier does not support this unit however I had it when I was with Verizon & love the way I can stay online with no interference. It works with my Frontier Cable Service just fine. I was already a customer of Actiontec having purchased their MOCA device to extend my wired internet so when I needed to extend my wireless this was an easy choice ... good quality product that just works without any complicated set up procedures right out of the box, but you can also configure the device for added security and or to mimic your existing wireless. My wireless devices switch between the two devices (main router and Actiontec) seamlessly anywhere in the house or out in the yard. Works with Verizon FiOS perfectly.
The item came brand new in a sealed box (appears to be OEM item judging from the box). I set it up in Access Point mode. Connected (synchronized) to Verizon gateway router using WPS that automatically duplicate the SSID and password (contrary to another reviewer's claim). I now can go from the main router zone to the access point zone seamlessly (No need to do anything). This product will only work with MoCA network (router with coaxial connection, such Verizon FiOS). Dramatically improved network coverage
I recently removed 2 Verizon FIOS TV control boxes, leaving the house with 1 FIOS Quantum router and one TV box. The router is in the basement, so there were dead spots for wifi coverage. I set my wife up with her own office two floors above, and have been using powerline adapters to give her Ethernet connectivity. Because we already have coax avalable upstairs, I just used the Actiontec extender to connect through the MOCA connection on the appliance itself. I then connected our smart TV to one of the two Ethernet ports on the extender, and then used the Android Verizon Fios Mobile app to bring access to all mobile verified TV stations available via our FIOS account. I then pressed the WPA button on the extender, and subsequently the WPA button on the Gateway router to establish a secure WPA encrypted network link with the same user name and password as our main unit. It works so well. The wifi range has been extended, and I use Actiontec's wifi assistant app to monitor the strength and connections of each wireless device on our network. I have ordered another to do the same in another room as well. For Fios this system is magnificent!!!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
