This item works well with DVD-RW Sata devices, which was why I bought it. I have used other Sata to USB devices which only work 100% correctly with hard disks and if you plug a a DVD-RW or CD they will not work, because the computer wont allow you to eject, and you would have to unplug the converter with power in in order to eject.
