  • Simple set up and adequate range

The set up is simple- press the “hardware handshake” button on the cable modem or router first then the button on the front of the D-Link. Be patient for the connection. I tried two locations 200 feet away from my cable modem and have 3 reception strength lights; the extended range is adequate for the price. I did not use the browser set up because I do not configure any of the available access restriction features.

  • Easy to setup, seems to provide the some range extension

Its very easy to setup. Seems like well made. I would have given it 5 stars, but I don't seem to get a good range extension and strong signal as I had expected. I am trying to adjust the antennas to figure out best configuration.

  • D-Link 1720 AP

Using it as AP connected switch by ethernet. Works fine, infrastructure allows 1000Mb/100Mb. Connected devices show ~450Mb/110Mb. Quality of plastic is not so good - piece of plastic holding plug is broken on one of my three items. Not a critical damage, device is still working properly using my home made fix.

  • STRONG kicker!

setup NOT a breeze if using the included manual. better to download an app that is not mentioned. the app makes it a snap. disco! all to the good. kicks out a strong signal so that interior of house is golden. but this thing kicks it up outside and into a garage. was ready to spend twice what this factory refurb'd cost. solid purchase. DLINK solid brand.

  • Works as promised but installation is not as easy as described.

The D-Link DAP-1720 performs as described and has extended the range of my wi-fi router throughout my one-level house. However, the ease of installation is less than as described in the literature. I consider myself to be pretty computer system savvy and I attempted to install the unit following the directions provides. After 30 minutes of no success, I started a chat session with technical assistance. That experience was a total failure and after 40 minutes of chat time I still was not able to install the unit. Finally, the chat expert gave up and forwarded my issue to a tech who would call me in 1 - 3 hours. One hour later, I received the promised call. The phone tech successfully walked me through the installation process in about 15 minutes. This experience reinforces my opinion the chats are a waste of time. I would have given this product a 5 star rating id not for the difficulty in installation.

  • Rough start but now works good

Once we got it working, it works great. It arrived with the AC plugs loose. The mounting method is pretty weak. After bonding in place I was able to plug in the unit. Next issue was getting it initiated. Support talked us through various operations trying to get it to connect to phones, etc. Turned out we had to reset the unit and use the PW on the card, not our access point router.

  • If it sets up, it works well!!

The connection instructions are out of date. As WPS connections often fail, that means manual setup. Once you figure out that you have to go online to get usable instructions (and with the paper manual right in front of you, why would you think the online instructions would be different?), you then have to call Tech Services so they can talk you through setup. Not cool...

  • Factory second product- Likely brand new but with major defect

These are sold as New-others, which mean they have some manufacturing defect AND therefore could not be sold to normal customers. The extender I got had very loose "plug in prongs". They could be pushed in the extender housing easily and therefor could not be plugged in an electrical outlet. If you are not tech savvy and are not looking forward to repair a extender yourself before you could use it, do not buy it.

  • Recommend not to try WPS setup. Works well afterwards. Excellent value.

Setup with WPS didn't work. On top of that WPS setup completely changed the configuration of my main router. After re-setup the main router, I used a browser to set up the DAP-1720. This time it worked instantly. The wifi range is very good. (need to find the best spot though) On my newer devices the speedtest produced almost similar results with a direct WiFi connection to the main router. On my older iPad, the speed was reduced to only 20%, but once I did the network settings reset, it became speedy again. I'm happy to have this and it solves my dead spot problem.

  • Decent, not the increase in coverage expected

Seems fine. Quick easy set up. Problem is I just don't see the increase in wife connectivity I thought I would with product. I hope this has to do with my location more than item itself.
