I bought this item after deciding that my ipod nano lacked additional space needed for my growing music library. The ipod touch is a wonderful ipod thats easy to use. I enjoy the bigger screen which gives videos a new life. I love how thin the device feels in your hand. Easy grasp. Already my music library has grown to such an extent, that i'll soon outgrow this one as well. The only draw back to this device that i find aggravating, is the off/on button at the top on the left. It's a major annoyance at times to get the device to shut off. I have learned a new technique that makes it easier to turn on/off now. Instead of using your finger on the button to push downward, take your fingernail instead and push down and in most cases the device performs the function needed. I enjoy using this ipod, and am looking forward to an upgrade in the near future.Read full review
I love all of the things this thing can do. With the wifi connectivity this ipod has, I can order pizza, or chat on yahoo messenger without being stuck in my room to my computer. It's thinner than the first generation ipod touch but personally I think this makes it harder to keep a hold of, I didn't mind the 1st gen being bigger. I guess if you have smaller hands you would like this ipod better. I love that this thing has an internal speaker, I don't have to haul around headphones which can be cumbersome if your just wanting to play with apps. The battery life is great too. I can use it all day and not have to recharge it unless I'm playing a 3d game, then the battery goes down faster but still great battery life. The only thing that I personally thought was lacking was the mp3 player function of the ipod. I'm the type of person who is big on sound quality and honestly this ipod doesn't have the best quality and keep in mind I use pricey aftermarket headphones, not the ones that come with the ipod. I find that navigating the songs is a bit more difficult that with the old circle mouse but maybe I'm just being a little picky. I guess the apps really just overshadow the music player in this device. The best thing about this ipod is that my car stereo has a USB ipod function to it. I can get in my car, plug in the ipod with the USB sync cable, and then pull up a playlist. The audio is digital quality VS using a stereo input jack that most car stereos come with nowdays which would not be digital. The sound quality is significantly better with the USB interface and I don't have to burn any cd's anymore. Overall a great product, had a fist generation for a while now, had this one for a few days, and so far I'm loving it.Read full review
I like this unit a lot. It's like an Iphone without the phone. I actually bought a router from Amazon to go with it, so I'd have Wi Fi thoughout my condo. Plus, the router will give me extra security withough an extra firewall, so that's a bonus. The songs sync easily through Itunes, once I figured out how the program works, (Took a little work, but Apple Tech Support was WONDERUL in helping me set up my Ipod and my Itunes.) Setting up playlists is easy, and recenltly, I downloaded an episode of a TV show, and sat and watched it while waiting for a doctors appointment. Loved it. The Wi Fi works great. To test it out one evening, I parked outside of a local "coffee house" that had closed for the evening. I was getting wi fi not only from the coffee house, but from the bagel shop across the parking lot. So, the wi fi has great range. It'll be nice when I'm sitting waiting in an airport to go visit my friend in NYC. My only regret is the size of the memory and the external speaker. My previous player was a Microsoft Zune, which I loved, and it was a 30 GB unit that cost a lot less. I have 7 GB of music that I transferred to the Ipod, so I only have another 7.5 or so after system files for apps and more music. I wish Apple would have maybe made it a 20 GB unit. Also, it sounds WONDERFUL with the headphones on, but the external speaker has barely enough volume to hear it. Other than that, I'm happy.Read full review
This is a great iPod to get if you are looking at getting an iPod Touch. PROS: Built in accelerometer - helps with certain games and apps Thin design - not as thick as an iPhone Sound quality is good via headphones - also has internal speaker Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Long battery life for music playback Long battery life for using apps Lots of free applications Can view MS Word, Excel documents and PDFs native Cons: Gets an attitude when connecting to a wireless network using WEP encryption. SUPER easy to see finger prints on the screen All iPod touches get scratched real easy on the back side Cannot delete stuff like pictures directly from iPod I have own a lot of iPods over the years, back form the first original 5 GB iPod, and this is by far the best iPod that Apple has come out with. It's nice and thin, and if you look at the size of the iPhone, you will notice that its not as thick. The best part about the iPod Touch, is that is has all the benefits of the iPhone without having to deal with AT&T. There are some quirks that you should know about this iPod. First, when connecting to a wireless network, it will get an attitude and refuse to connect to networks using WEP encryption. So if you are tying to get it to connect to your current mac using the built in network sharing, and you want to encrypt the network, you are out of luck. The screen shows finger prints real easy. I have purchased a cover to go over my screen, but it still shows finger prints amazingly easy. This can make it difficult to sometimes see what is on the screen depending on the light in the room. It is pretty good at remembering your different wifi networks. I use my at home and school, and it can remember the wifi connections between all of the various buildings. One thing to note, when you have had it off for more than about 5 minutes or so, it takes about 30 to 45 seconds to find the wifi signal again. I use mine a lot though out the day, and I have no problem using the apps and browsing the web for 6 to 8 hours a day. As with any thing with an internal battery, you need to make sure that you follow apple's advice on conditioning the battery. Full charge the battery, and use it until the battery is fully dead. Let it sit for 5 hours to make sure the battery is full drained, then charge it until it's 100% again. There are a lot of useful apps that you can get off of the app store for free. There are some popular games that do cost money, but you can always find stuff for free. As of Apples last count, there were something like 85,000 apps available to download. You do not have to be at your computer to download apps. You can do it directly from your iPod and also delete them directly from your iPod. Since it has bluetooth built in, I assume that you could use skype and a bluetooth headset to make phone calls over wifi. However, I have not tested this functionality. Although it says it has location based service, this is only when you are connected to a wifi network. The iPod uses the known ip address that you are connected to and uses this to figure out your current location. This does not have GPS ability, and you cannot use it for GPS navigation, unless you travel with a wifi source always with you. All in all, I think this is a very solid and well built iPod.Read full review
I really like it, it's a great product for all those music lovers out there who want more than just music at their fingertips. I keep tons of pics of my kids on it, too, so I've always got them handy. I also love the video feature, put a few of my kids' TV shows on it, which keeps them occupied and quiet when were waiting in line somewhere or at the drs office. LOVE that I can sync my Outlook calendar to it and have the same calendar on my laptop and in my purse. My only complaint, if you'd call it that, is that it pulls straight WiFi, not that I didn't know that when I bought it, but there aren't a ton of open access networks around where I live/work, etc, so I'm often without a signal which means that now that I've gotten used to email in my hand, I don't have it - DEFINATELY makes me want an iPhone!, if for no other reason that the SIM to pull internet even without WiFi. I saw the new iPod Touch's have speakers, too, which would be nice. All in all a great product, easy to use, etc., just spoils you enough so that you want more.Read full review
