Fine Kung Fu Historical Epic
The movie follows a fascinating story line. I wish they could have covered more of the earlier background of the plot. For example, the main character does not perform any archery in the movie (except in the opening scene), which is surprising based on the title. It would have probably made it a five-star film if they had included some scenes from earlier in the main character's life when he made his name as the Brave Archer. True to it being a Shaw Brothers film, the emphasis is less on the fight scenes and more on the characters and plot development. There's never a dull moment in this engaging historical-themed martial arts classic.
