Pads overlap the braking surface on the wheel rim. Was able to use them by allowing them to overlap on the spoke side of the rim, keeping them from rubbing the tire. Will have to pay attention as they wear, making sure they don't begin interfering with the spokes. They brake well, but squeal loudly. Rim was cleaned well before installation.
