This lens hood works fine in natural light conditions. When I took a picture with the built-in flash on a D-3000, there was a dark half circle at the bottom of the image. Please view the attached comparison images. This was never mentioned in the product description. The lens hood was described as a perfect fit for the lens it was placed on - Nikon Lens AF-S DX 18-55mm 1:3.5-56G VR SWM Aspherical 0.28m/0.92ft Ø52. This is very misleading by not revealing the fact the lens hood cannot be used with the camera's built in flash. I hope I remember to remove it when I need to shoot with the flash on!

I bought this for my 18-55mm normal zoom lens kit. It's fits great. The only thing I did not like is the method of attaching the lens. Most hoods twist and lock on the lens. This one is has 2 buttons on the sides that need to press simultaneously to retract the teeth in order to insert to the lens and release to lock it in place. You need to keep in mind not to press too much force as it can or may break if not careful. Besides that, It is made of good plastic like any other hoods from Nikon.

I bought this as an alternative to the Nikon brand lens hood and I'm not crazy about it. The first thing I didn't like too much is how the hood clips on by pressing two release buttons on the sides to attach to the actual lens. This gave me some trouble trying to attach it to the lens itself. To be honest, it is not a bad lens hood especially for the price. you are getting a steal. I'm not going to rant because it isn't a bad product. I wish it was just a little easier to attach to the lens. If you're looking for a cheap alternative, this is where to go.

This is bad imitation, doesn't fit to the lens properly because of springs and springs' nests.. I disassemled it, change the springs with my original hoods, assembled it again.. Now is working properly..Better spend some more money and buy an original item from Nikon..
