I bought this product because I already had some of the existing units (for 10 years) and they are fantastic. I wanted to expand by system by a couple of more phones and have ann integrated system. The design is great and they have worked flawlessly. They have all kinds of settings, caller ID, difference ring tones for each room, and an intercom feature. All this in a beautifully designed product. Yes, there are other systems which now give you very similar features for less of a price, there is something to say about owning a Bang & Olufsen 'work of art'. Just make sure you have a good base unit and I'm sure you will get many years of trouble-free service.
I own the newer version of this phone and its base unit, the Beocom 1. The Beocom 6000 appears to be exactly the same as the Beocom 1, but they are clearly incompatible with the newer technology. I had read that the dealer could update the firmware. This is a long process and when complete, the 6000 will work as a dumb handset with none of the features of original usability, not phonebook, no intercom, no ring, etc.. Basically an expensive paperweight! Peole that sell the 6000 should warn buyers of this compatibility issue. The seller would not take them back even when I offered her a significant cash bonus for doing so. Partially my mistake, but could have been avoided with more information from the seller.
All BeoCom phones are excellent. I've had my BeoCom 1 phone for ten years and still use it. But I needed to replace the Base.

This is a small piece of art. Liked the design very much. Easy to use (once you find where the 'menu' is). It turns it is also capable to control the volume of any other B&O audio o video device. Amazing! Older versions (like mine) are in Danish only, you cannot set other language unless you update the firmware at an authorized B&O service store. Besides of that, it is very ergonomic and the battery using time is almost endless.
