I am hooked on this show. Got started watching it on Netflix Instant Watch and got done with the first three seasons just in time to watch season 4 when it started. I was a teenage mom. I was a sophomore in high school when I got pregnant. My boyfriend at the time who is now my husband moved in with me and my family a couple months after we found out. We slept in separate rooms in separate beds while we were unmarried. When we did get married a month after I graduated high schooll. We continued to live with my parents while both of us attended college and we paid a percentage of rent to my parents while we continued to live there while going to school and the rest of the money we made from our jobs we saved. If it wasn't for my parents my husband and I may have never been able to graduate high school or be able to have college degrees. After college we were able to move out of my parents house with good credit to purchase our own home with the money we had been saving since our daughter was born. I encourage parents to help their children. Just b/c they made a mistake and had sex to soon does't mean that your child isn't still your child and you still care for them as you have always done so they can care for their own child and be able to achieve goals that they probably couldn't or would have a difficult time achieving without your help and support for them to be able to create a financially stable life for your child and their own child. I just wanted to explain that I was like Amy in real life but I didn't take for granted my blessings that had been given to me from my parents and the support from my husband. My parents pampered me while my husband and I went to school and both worked but when we graduated college we were able to move out on our own b/c of the help and support of my parents and all they did for me and my lil family. I think this show is head on. They do show situations that do happen in every high school and help encourge teenagers not to rush into sex and that sex is a responsible thing that can be enjoyed but not at the cost of turning your whole life around for it when your not ready for the outcome.Read full review
Ok, so this is my second review for this show. My first one was for the first season, and like this review, it won't be glowing. The whole idea of the story is good. ABC Family was right to make a show that dealt with this topic. HOWEVER, the acting is less than believable and is so bad that it makes the show hard to watch. Also, the storylines are sometimes just ridiculous-- this is NOT how most teenagers deal with pregnancy and I think the creators and writers of the show missed the mark on what REAL amercian teenagers deal with. I don't find (most) of the show believable. I think the acting stinks, and what seemed like a great new show idea suddenly becomes a show that I FORCE myself to watch because it's spending time with my kids. Hey, ABC FAMILY, let's show the world how it's cool to be a whiny, lazy, and unappreciative teenager like AMY who is not setting a good example for the amercian teen population. If my daughter EVER acts like that I would be appalled! I absolutely cannot believe that AMY acts like such a spoiled little brat on the show. Her character wants everything done for her and does little for herself-- and whines and is so lazy that I almost don't want my kids watching this show because then THEY may think it's OK to act like that when it's not. The show would have been better off with actors who make their characters believeable and who can truly act. I also think that the writers of the show missed the mark in making the character of AMY the way she is.... and it's not setting a good example for the kids out there who look up to her. Instead, give us a person who has the struggles but WORKS hard to overcome them. THAT is something the kids should see and want to look up to.... not someone who whines, is lazy, witchy, demanding, etc. That's not a role model I envision my kids looking up to and it surprises me how everyone raves at how good the show is. I just don't get it.Read full review
Season after season, The Season Life of the American Teenager amazes me. And it keeps getting better. The writers seems to be headed in the right direction. I highly recommend this to anyone in thier teenage years because it actually shows how life can be raising a baby at 16 and how hard it is. It may be based off of fiction, but this show is as close to real teenage life as I have seen it. Kudos to the writers of the show! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
everything was great

I love this series. Great for all ages, my little sister is 16, I am 30 and my mom is in her 50's and we all love it. Not just about one person, includes the problems and lives of all the other cast members, so almost any one can relate to someone on the show. Whether it be teenage pregnancy, divorce, religion or just feeling like you don't fit in. Highly recommended!!!
It was for my daughter and she loves it.

I liked that it discusses everyday life in high school and the obstacles that kids face when going to a public school! I believe that this show will help kids realize that sex is not a good thing outside of marriage! I enjoyed watching the show! I bought the dvd for my niece who thinks sex is okay and she is 13 years old! She watched it and has now changed her mind!
I was so sucked into Season 1 that I had to buy season 2. The characters are relatable and the drama is almost real. A great and educating production to have every teen watch. Teenage pregnancy is hard and should not be taken lightly.
