Xenoblade Chronicles mixes classic RPG action with elements of Arthurian legend as gamers take control of Shulk, the only young man capable of safely wielding a mythical sword known as the Monado. Players guide Shulk, along with his friends Fiora, Reyn, Sharla, and Dunban, on an epic journey across the Bionis and the Mechonis, a landmass formed entirely by the corpses of two great titans. Along the way they'll battle scores of mechanical, insect-like beings known as the "Mechon" that can only be defeated by the Monado's blade.
Xenoblade Chronicles offers an open world ready to be explored, giving gamers the freedom to travel anywhere they please. During his journey, Shulk will form three-man parties and establish "Affinity" with his companions and various characters he meets, opening up new locations, quests, and dialogue options. Battles occur automatically once foes get within a certain distance, but players have the ability to move freely when in combat, unleashing special moves known as "Arts" and teaming up with the other two members of their party to perform powerful chain attacks. Victories ensure experience points for leveling up characters, and treasure chests left behind by the defeated often contain new weapons and armor.

To be fair, this game has aged quite a bit (graphics wise), but playing it with the wii mote and nunchuck is a wonderful experience. It starts off a bit slow, but holds strong with the story and setting. Definitely worth playing if you have the time.
Overall:
Story: 9
Graphics: 7
Music: 9
Combat/Mechanics: 8
Cons:
> Some lines are really repetitive, but can be overlooked
> Combat can become really grind-y
Epic game. LONG, took me about 80 hr to complete, and that's with only enough sidequests to reach the level needed (I had to backtrack at the end). Immense amount of content, characters are interesting, story is great. Visuals are gorgeous. Voice acting... is what it is. Great soundtrack. Highly recommended if you like RPGs, definitely one of the best on the Wii.
I was going to buy this for the 3ds for full sale price brand new, but the graphics are down scaled. I bought this for my wii and played for 5 hours straight. The graphics are breathtaking, the story is adventurous, I love this game so much! Much needed for a great exploratation rpg for the wii collections!
Xenoblade Chronicles is my favorite RPG of this generation.
If you like JRPGs then this game is for you. It has a very gripping story that keeps you wanting more at every turn. The active battle system is fluid and dynamic. The wide variety of enemies require different methods of attack and make the player consider a battle plan before engaging. Enemies seem to be challenging throughout the game. Regardless of how powerful you are there is always a difficult foe to face. I would recommend this game to any video game lover who really enjoys a good plot. It has given me many hours of pure gaming pleasure. It is by far my favorite RPG of this generation.
There are a lot of great qualities about this game that I enjoy, but overall it is the character depth, the beautiful graphics (for Wii limitations, they were INCREDIBLE), the sound track, and the story! Highly recommended.
