  • Adding value and better functioning to an older computer

This video card was for an upgrade of a 12 year old Pentium 4, XP SP3 ATX desktop to enable playback of the newer Blu-Ray movies. Didn't have a lot of choices as the older motherboard prevented the use of any higher end components from being used now, so you have to pick what is compatible with the system you have. The choice of using this EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX video card to upgrade an older computer was perfect, as long as you remember the greater power demand of the GeForce 8800 GTX. But overall this video card worked out well as it was compatible with the present motherboard, it used the same PCI express x16 card slot, and the newer drivers installed perfectly. So just remember, when upgrading video cards, just insure you research all the different compatibility issues and you'll be able to breath some new life into your older computer.
