Very nice CPU. The one I got overclocked very easily to 2.8GHz and runs nice and stable with a very minor voltage increase (1.4V). Even runs fairly cool at that speed (with an aftermarket upgraded CPU heatsink and fan). These are fun to play with and overclock for better performance, fairly cheap usually too. Performance isn't too bad for something like a file server, print server, or just plain backup PC in case your main PC is down for repairs. Not the fastest CPU in the world anymore, but it's decent if you're not doing anything too CPU intensive. I wouldn't use one for PC gaming, but it's reasonable for a basic web browsing, emailing, and MS Word/Excel document creating PC.
This processor is Fast But If purchased make sure this doesent happen!! The Pins Can Be Damaged Quite easily thus rendering the processor virtually useless, so if purchased handle with very cautious care in order to not damage the gold pins or the processor will not work in your mother board,also proper thermal grease is a must and must be a fresh clean application to the processor before mounting the heat sink and fan, never use pre existing grease from a used processor completely clean it if any is present after install and the build..., the built in hardware monitor in most mother boards bio's will be fairly close to give you a temp of your cpu and mother board temp, plus your fan RPM's, to make sure your running cool enough to prevent over heating i highly recommend the AMD 64 Athlon processor from my own single core builds, they are fast and run very cool compaired to other processors....Read full review

I've bought a few CPU's from Starmicro and they always have sold me good quality parts. This Athlon 64 3200+ is no exception and it's running well in my son's computer with Windows 7 RTM. Ain't had time to do any benchmarking, but, Windows 7 seems to be playing nice with it. Thanks Starmicro!
Had an old dead HP Pavilion computer. My best guess was that the cpu was dead. This item sounded good and was worth a try at the price. Item had a couple of bent pins on arrival. Straightened them as best I good an got, finally, a zero force insertion. Computer still dead. Oh well.
