  • The most bang from your old AM2 motherboard!

For those who are still running an old AMD AM2 based system and wish to squeeze the last bit of usable life out of it, then this may be the answer. If your motherboard can support an Athlon 64 X2 of 89W TDF, you can swap in this 89W version of AMD's top performing Athlon 64 X2 of that era. It's a Windsor cored model requiring more wattage, but it came equipped with two L2 caches of 1MB for each core. Clocked at 3.0GHz, it speeds up an older, slower system noticeably. Able to run Win10 Pro with no lagging issues at all, 1080P streamed videos, etc. Be sure to note the proper version of this CPU as there exists an older 125W model. This one can burn out your motherboard's regulators if not careful to check if it can handle such a load. The seller is reliable and fast and highly recommended. James Kim of South Korea.

  • Great upgrade from AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+

Upgrading is always at your own risk !! I was able to upgrade my DELL Inspiron 531 (motherboard - 0ry206) from the factory original AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+, to this AMD Dual Core CPU Athlon 64X2 6000+ 3.0GHz Socket AM2 ADA6000IAA6CZ 89W. This is, most possibly, the maximum processor upgrade version I can go with this motherboard. I FIRST upgraded the BIOS to version 1.0.13 . I also filled the memory bays with 8GB (4x2GB) Dell SNPYG410C/2G Memory RAM. (I do feel that the memory is overkill for this motherboard-processor combo. Possibly 6GB of PC2-5300 666.67 MHz might be the optimum.) Anyway, things are running great for the last two months. Good luck.

  • Great Upgrade for (most) any AM2 PC

I purchased several AM2 CPU's to get the best performance for a couple of PC's over the years, and have to say, this is the one, stop looking! It's basically all one will get in a dual core AM2 series CPU (in fact, no AM2 quads were manufactured). Yet this is as good as some low end quads, maybe better, example, many of the AM3 CPU's that will fit will lose performance, and chances are probable that your dual channel RAM will run in single channel mode. Mine's installed in a Dell Optiplex 740 'DT' edition, the model just below the mid tower, though larger than two others (SFF & USFF). The only upgrade I felt that I needed to make was adding a copper core cooler, these are available on eBay for $12-16 shipped ( P/N:HK912) for the Optiplex 740 SFF & DT series, may fit other models. This was recommended on the Dell Hardware Forum due to it being a 95W CPU, though not mandatory, it brought temps down by a good margin (from 40C at idle to just under 30C), more so during usage. Only a thin layer of thermal paste spread evenly, a glaze, is needed & I highly recommend Arctic Silver 5, also on this site (please check seller feedback before purchasing anything). One 3.5 gram tube of this is good for 10 CPU installs, and store with the plunger upright. At any rate, this CPU breathed new life on my Dell Optiplex 740, which now dual boots Windows 10 Pro & Linux MInt Cinnamon 18. I simply cannot say enough good about this lifesaver CPU, as this PC was about to be scrapped for usable components & the rest tossed in the recycle bin outdoors. Do your AM2 PC a favor & get this chip while these are available in good condition. You'll get another 3-5 years of use out of the PC, or convert into one for the kids to do homework/play basic games on.

  • Its good for its age.

Pretty much the max my 2008 AM2 motherboard can handle. Super easy to install, went from an amd sempron to this amd athlon dual core 64 x2 6000+. Brought my processor score up from a 4.2 to a 5.4, no complaints.

  • Good Dell Inspiron 531S Upgrade

The CPU in my Inspiron 531S was a 2.2Gig dual core AMD chip. By replacing the CPU with this 3.0 Gig Anthlon X2 6000+ and upgrading the memory to 8 Gig, the system easily upgraded to Windows 10. If you have a similar Dell or other manufacture's PC with a slower CPU that is socket and BIOS compatible with the X2 6000+ I would definitely recommend the upgrade. It's an easy install; the used CPUs are a good value; and the performance increase, especially if you can add more memory to the system, is obvious.

  • Upgrade to an aging Dell Laptop brought new life to an old friend

Installed this processor to upgrade a Dell E521 desktop that originally came with a SINGLE CORE Sempron 1.8GHz processor. This dual core processor, rated at 3GHz, breathed new life in this otherwise solid desktop. Along with a fresh windows install and max'd out RAM made this desktop sing.

  • CPU & System Upgrade for Windows 10

This CPU was purchased as part of my upgrade of a HP Pavilion a1730n (ASUSTek Computer INC. NODUSM3 1.05 motherboard) with Windows Vista to Windows 10 (64bit). The upgrade included installation of Windows 10 using the USB option on to a new SSD drive. System is functioning normally. Only hitch is that the CPU is not specifically identified which apparently is due to the BIOS (Phoenix Technologies, LTD 5.07 03/19/2007) on the motherboard which has not been updated by HP. Use of CPUID will allow you to check on the CPU if necessary. I have not attempted to overclock the system.

  • AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6000+ 3.00GHZ

I bought this for my mother’s Dell Dimension E521 that she has had for about 10 years. She did not use this computer for a good 6 years because she said the computer was very slow, lock up Windows every time you used it, and the fans ran so loud it was annoying. The computer was so slow it made her cable internet like dial-up. It took forever to boot up and shut down while the whole time the fans sounded like airplane about to take off. Recently I researched the computer and seen if it was worth upgrading for my mother. I found that someone did upgrade the PC with this AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6000+ 3.00GHZ from the stock AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3800+2.00GHZ and 8 GB of RAM. I rolled my dice and got the CPU and RAM and it worked better than I thought. This was a great upgrade and reinstalling Windows was a lot faster without the fans going above idle. Since the upgrade the PC is very quiet and has not froze Windows once. My mother uses the PC for email, Facebook, surfing the web, and some games on Facebook. It’s like a totally different computer and my mother is very happy.
