TLDR: New processor on an old laptop from 2006 beat other newer laptops in terms of performance. I'm looking at you, HP Stream models. I was originally gunning for the Core 2 Duo T7600, but that cost me an arm and a leg in time and shipping. This laptop was to be sent to an extremely rural, mountainous part of the Philippines and tech support is out of the question--a trip to the nearest PC repair shop in the city would take a day's worth of hiking through mountainous terrain. This processor was installed in a Toshiba (now Sharp Dynabook) Portege m400 convertible laptop, along with maxed out specs. Upgraded RAM to 4GB DDR2, a 128GB Sandisk SSD, and reconditioned battery cells, as well as installation of Windows 10 Home and office/productivity software. Latest BIOS and firmware updates had to be installed to accomodate this processor type and compatibility requirements of Windows 10. Performance-wise, I'm happy. This laptop feels and runs like new again!Read full review

I bought three of these for my Lenovo 14" T60 laptops. Like one review stated, this is an easy upgrade especially if you want to go to the 64 bit operating systems. I installed one in a T60 which had a T2400 1.8 Gh dual core, 32 bit CPU and now I'm running the T7200 which is of course 2 Gh 64 bit CPU. Once you change to a 64 bit operating system you go from 3GB's of RAM to 4 GB's of RAM which is an improvement. Along with this upgrade I added Windows 8.1, 64 bit on a 120GB OWC SSD. I'm quite impressed with the speed, 36 second start up and the screen on these T60's is remarkable, very bright and the color is great, the best I've ever seen on any laptops. The price was right on these CPU's and the vendor got them to me in no time at all.
Why I purchased it: *2Ghz clock speed with 4MB Cache *64 Bit OS ready *Dual Core *Second fastest Processor in its class and 200$ cheaper *I needed a true dual core I heavily use 3D applications (modeling, animation, rendering) that benefit from multi-core processors and game heavily . *Games I can play all the new games with no issues. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Left For Dead 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2. The games look and play comparably to my Intel Quad Core with a Geforce GTX 260 Video card. Smooth Frame rates, good detail which I am very particular about.(note my laptop has a dedicated video card see specifications) * 3D applications I also heavily use 3D applications with very good render times. Carrara 7, Daz Studio 3.0, Vue 7. Poser 7,8 and Pro.Dell Inspiron 9400 CPU T7200 Memory 4GB 677mhz Nvidia Quadro FX (Equal to the Geforce 7900GTX) Hard Drive 320 GB SATA 17in WUXGA OS' I have run on this machine. XP, Vista Pro, Currently Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.Read full review
CPU Works great in mac mini core solo upgrade. Four meg cache is king. Yes, there is a slightly faster models (2.33), but for the price I was very happy. Very noticeable improvement of the mac in general. Internet videos play almost perfect. General use of internet, eBay, etc (nothing heavy duty.) functions fine. Much faster than my 2ghz laptop and windows7. Both have 2 GB ram. Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2 GHz in mac with 667 fsb. Not sure of laptop pc 2ghz cpu model. Well worth the upgrade and not terribly hard to do. This cpu has the pins on the bottom so be careful buying and installing. General guide for mac upgrade... Plan your work Print or save instructions. Safe place to leave it over night. Other upgrade parts ready to install. Ram 2 times 2GB sticks of (667 or faster) = 4GB ram with firmware update. Yes it is reported that 64 bit core 2 duo can run lion. Unofficially supported by apple. Others confirm it works fine. Faster 7200 rpm hard drive is also recommended with large cache. Some of the newer sata 2.5 laptop drives are reported to NOT run on mac os but run fine on windows. I have a wd 3.5 blue 160GB that will not format in the mac, but works fine on a usb to sata controller. Four GB ram also reported to run fine showing 3GB or 4GB with firmware update. Very pleased with this cpu and mac upgrade. I would like to see windows 7 run on this mac. The only concern I see is graphic gma 950 video card. Other upgrades might or could require better video hardware chip. In example lion, virtual os, or windows. I was considering selling this mac before the upgrade because it was so slow. Now I can use it all day for most my work. If you have the time there are lots of videos on internet on how to upgrade. Lap tops also benefit with this upgrade. I have done 2 with out any problems. Toshiba and dell. Do not forget to clean dust out of radiator and fan with a toothbrush, paintbrush, vacuum. And reapply Heat-sink paste. Use a plastic card to scrape off the old. Reapply Only a paper thin new layer spread evenly on both the heat sink and the cpu. A larger area on the heat-sink will also help it cool better as it spreads or conduct the heat over more surface area.Read full review
This processor have been great. It allow me to move up to the 64bit OS with a slight bump up in speed processing the newer office 2019 program. I can the difference in the boot up time and apps load up time and now on to getting a ssd for my old laptop. I will be able to use it for many years to come.

If you have a laptop that is fairly easy to get to the CPU then this will be a pretty easy upgrade or replacement, if it's a complicated system to take apart it may not be worth the time and effort to upgrade. Unless this is your hobby and do not intend to sell the system then yes, it is worth the upgrade, the CPU is easy to remove and replace just like a regular PC CPU. The system will run a bit hotter than before and you will notice a small increase in overall speed.
It worked great for my 2006 Mac mini! This upgrade allowed me to run 64 bit operating systems, and even allowed 4gb ram with a firmware upgrade. It also felt a lot faster than the original Core Duo T2400. I would highly reccomend this if you have an old Mac mini with a Core Solo or Duo and want to get 64 bit capabilities.
