Purchased as an inexpensive upgrade to the latest technology for my Dell XPS M1330 which uses an Intel GM965 chipset. This chipset does not work with chips which have a FSB above 800MHz. The best choices for this chipset are the 2.1GHz T8100, 2.4GHz T8300, 2.5GHz T9300, or the 2.6GHz T9500. The T8100 is generally much cheaper than the next best chip, the T8300, but you still get the benefits of a 45nm Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
Upgraded a Pentium DualCore T2370 to this CPU and i'm very happy as my Lenovo R61 life will be extended. I compile C++ projects and needed a faster CPU (without paying for a new computer). It's not the latest CPU microarchitecture but works very well for today applications.
Worked in my old Acer Laptop splendidly, replaced an Intel 540 single core chip. Piece of cake to pull the 540 and replace it with the T8100. Now the Lappy flies...if only I could add more memory.
