About this product

Product Information

The Cisco Catalyst 2950T-48 switch, member of the Cisco Catalyst 2950 Series, is standalone, fixed-configuration, managed 10/100-Mbps switches providing basic workgroup connectivity for small to midsize networks. These wire-speed desktop switches come with Standard Image software features and offer Cisco IOS Software functions for basic data, voice, and video services at the edge of the network. Embedded in all Cisco Catalyst 2950 Series switches is the Cisco Cluster Management Suite (CMS) software, which allows users to simultaneously configure and troubleshoot multiple Cisco Catalyst desktop switches using a standard Web browser. In addition, with the newly launched Cisco Express Setup, users now have the option to set up the switch through a Web browser, eliminating the need for more complex terminal emulation programs and knowledge of the command-line interface (CLI). Cisco Express Setup reduces the cost of deployment by enabling less-skilled personnel to set up switches quickly.

  • It "worked" but required tinkering...

Does it work? Yes. Is it good for $4? Yes. But that's not the whole story. All the old configs where still in place including a password protected console. No big deal, quick google and reference found on Cisco to reset the configurations by booting into recovery. Requires holding down the "Mode" button while turning the thing on until the console is ready to role. The "Mode" button didn't work! The plastic push button did not hit the internal switch on the main board so there was no click. The top was pretty easy to take off since it had NO SCREWS HOLDING THE FRAME ON! After taking off the outer frame by just sliding the thing off, I could then take a pair of tweezers and manually push the mode button from inside the inner compartment. After doing some surgery and making a new config file, all was well. But it doesn't just "work" outside the box. It may have been "pulled from a working environment", but there is damage to the switch that I got which made it difficult to actually put to use. Worth $4? Sure. Worth the time? No, not really.

  • Catalyst2950

It's really a good switch, it came in an excellent condition especially with a used part. But all in all, it was in a mint condition.
