Corner Gas is hard to explain. It takes place at a gas station/diner in Dog River, Saskatchuan, Canada. It is a Canadian series, with great writing, superb performers, and marvelous surprises. I now have the entire series on my tablet so that I can watch it whenever I feel like it. It is a series that you can go back to and rewatch and it is like visiting old friends. The writing and humor are creatively brilliant, the cultural references a blast, and the guest cameos enhance the humor. There is not a mean spirited moment in the series. I have shared this series with many people and they have all been amazed at how good it is. And it is unique -- I cannot think of another series that compares to it. The world is a better place because we have Corner Gas.

CORNER GAS Directors: David Storey, Mark Farrell, Robert de Lint, others. Starring: Brent Butt, Gabrielle Miller, Fred Ewanuick, Eric Peterson, Janet Wright, Nancy Robertson, Lorne Cardinal, Tara Spencer-Nairn Corner Gas is a Canadian-produced comedy series created by its star, comedian Brent Butt. Set in the fictional Saskatchewan town of Dog River, where title song lyrics warn “there’s not a lot going on”, the Corner Gas station is the only fuel stop for nearly 40 prairie miles. It’s run by Brent Leroy (Butt), a glib, comic book addicted over-40 with a passion for chili cheese dogs. Attached to Corner Gas is The Ruby café operated by Lacey Burrows (Miller), a Dog River transplant whose ongoing desire is unconditional acceptance by the kooks who live there. Brent’s parents Oscar and Emma (Peterson and Wright), his jobless best friend Hank (Ewanuick), store clerk Wanda (Robertson) and the entire Dog River police force, Davis and Karen (Cardinal and Spencer-Nairn), are the half a bubble off plumb residents. Rarely does a reviewer enjoy a chance to suggest something is perfect, so I’ll state it unconditionally: Corner Gas is perfect. Each episode is a skilled 22 minutes of non-stop sarcasm, self deprecation, idiocy, wit, charm and, best of all, heart. The writing is snugly controlled with fast-moving scenes. Its characters are portrayed by performers who utterly grasp what the scribes are hoping to convey. Every element, whether behind or in front of the camera, is breathtaking in its care. Apparently, Canada’s residents agree. Corner Gas was a massive hit; it was the most watched comedy series in the history of the country. It was shot on location in Rouleau, Saskatchewan with most interiors shot in nearby Regina. Creator Butt shocked fans, cast and crew by deciding to gracefully depart while still on top. The series aired its last episode in April 2009. Did I mention Corner Gas is perfect?Read full review
Corner Gas the Canadian Comedy based in small town Saskatchewan is the brain-child of comedian Brent Butt. It had a brief run on US cable, but never really made it, but I saw enough for me to watch more. I was hooked. Quirky, a little weird, but absolutely funny. I never tire of it.

"Corner Gas" was a Canadian TV show that went for six seasons and finished almost a decade ago. It's been followed up by a movie and a cartoon. Unless you watched the TV show the movie probably wont be that enjoyable. [I've never seen the cartoon] I first read about "Corner Gas" around early Nov. 2019. I decided to give it a try. I love this show. "Corner Gas- season 6" was the last season. I'd say it wasn't as good as the other seasons but it was still great. Maybe it's tanks were getting a little empty. The show revolves around 8 people in a little town. (Lacey- the owner of 'The Ruby Cafe', Brent Leroy- the owner of "Corner Gas", Brent's parents- Emma and Oscar: the founders of "Corner Gas" and Brent, Wanda- Brent's employee, Hank- Brent's best friend, and the two police officers- Davis and Karen). Not a lot goes on but they're great characters and fun to watch. "Corner Gas" is a very clean TV show with only a couple of racy moments in it's 6 seasons. Also: "Corner Gas" is an excellent comedy. I find it to be better then most U.S. TV shows {I love "South Park" and "The Simpson's" so racy has nothing to do with it.} Watch "Corner Gas" from the beginning and You'll like it too- most likely.Read full review

Not as upbeat as the previous seasons, this season actually wrapped up most of the story subsets-- although, spoiler alert-- not the Lacey/Brent storyline-- and was halfway a "going away present to the viewers." Among the better shows of its kind, Corner Gas wound up only available in the USA on a few cable networks, time to time, but is worth the time and effort to watch it, in order, from season one episode one to the final shot of the last episode. Okay, it would have worked better with a few changes, but that's true of any television series-- looking back you can always see how things would have worked better. .
