I have run through a couple different 'series' stories over the years, just recently finishing up the Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell. While at work one day, we were talking about different authors we enjoyed. I must have been the only one not to have read any of Janet Evanovich's books. One of my colleagues stated that her books 'make you laugh out loud.' I'm not usually one who gets emotional in reading, but the Grandma Mazur character made me chuckle. I had to read her antics to my husband as I found them humorous. Now I'm hooked. Two for the dough just continues on in Stephanie Plum's 'luck' in getting her man, so to speak. Of course, her car is again wrecked, Grandma wants to tag along as her sidekick, and Stephanie has dumb luck in apprehending her FTAs but she gets it done.
This book is a little more 'scattered' in plot than the first, but still funny. Steph continues to bungle her way as a bounty hunter, and somehow always manages to get her quarry. She, along with her sidekicks--Lula, a 250# ex-hooker introduced in the first book, whom Steph saved from death at the hands of a psychotic celebrity boxer, Grandma Majur, a gun-toting 80-year-old funeral-viewing-junkie, who likes to lift the lids off caskets to get the full effect and thinks of herself as an assistant bounty hunter, Joe Morelli, the cop she was hunting in the first novel who turned out to be innocent and Steph's love interest, Ranger, the smoke-and-mirrors "connected" military mercenary-turned-bounty-hunter, who tries in vain to teach Steph the fine art of "getting into the zone" of fugitive apprehension--all try to bring in a psychotic dismembering expert, as well as other undesirable bail-bond jumpers. Once again, it's a funny book, well worth the reading.Read full review
Like Ms. Evanovich's other books in this series, this novel is a simple easy read. The main character, Stephanie Plum, is once again the "star" of the story as she continues her pursuits as a Bounty Hunter. Joe Morelli plays a brief role as does Grandma Masur. A good summer read, perfect for the beach, light and entertaining.
I love Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum books. Two for tough was great.
