Shooting IR Without the Expensive Camera
We've all seen the haunting infrared images that photographers shoot, mostly with converted or specialized cameras, so dabbling in this type of photography has always been on the back burner. Then I discovered Hoya's Infrared filter. There is a bit of a learning curve as to shutter speed, setting up for the shot,using a tripod is a must, and post-processing is a must to create and get the full IR effect. Hoya filters are well known for their quality, and this is a nice alternative to having to invest in an infrared camera. This filter gives the photographer the chance to dabble with IR before going all out with a camera. The attached image was my first attempt at IR using the filter; and I will put more time into developing my technique and creating (hopefully) some unique IR images.
