About this product

Product Information

Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is to us invisible, ultraviolet light. This is most often outdoors, especially at high altitudes, where the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner; and over long distances, such as marine scenes. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region. The UV Protector is one of the most popular filters. It provides basic reduction of UV light.

  • Like buying lens insurance.

I haven't been into photography for long, but something I read when I bought my first camera sticks with me. "Always use a UV filter on your lenses". Put it on when you buy the lens, take it off to clean it when it's taken the abuse for your lens, and replace as needed. I have never had a filter save a lens, because I've been lucky so far, but I want one on there incase it does happen. Tiffens seem to be crystal clear, have a good reputation and don't break the bank.

  • Great filter!

I have used TiFFEN filters (various lens sizes) and found these work great on my lens, in term of optical as well as keeping my lens from dust and unwanted scratches. Besides, the quality of TiFFEN filter also so good with me. Highly recommended. Thanks.

  • Nice filter

Have only used it for about 100 pics. Used indoors and outdoors while on vacation in Jamaica. Consistently clear pics and color seems to be spot on. Most of shots outdoors was full sun. Indoor pics were no flash, long exposure on tripod shots.

  • Great Filter

This is a great filter and a good buy if you use filters to protect your front lens element (I do on all my lenses). No visible image impact, just good quality protection.

  • Super value filter.

A splendid adage to my lense. The UV is high quality awhile the filter protects the lens as it should. Just make apply minimal grease on the thread in order to unscrew the filter especially if you leave them on for a longer period of time. I saw instances where people could not remove the filter due to screwing then dry and tight. Just a pro suggestion. Super value making Tiffen a very high quality product.

  • Great affordable UV Filter Made In The USA

The cheap filters are just that... cheap. I won't use them anymore. Tiffen filters are consistent, affordable and made in the USA!

  • Clear and clean - but some glare!

I like it's clarity and threads. Looks and generally performs like a decent bargain...until...the glare around some light sources. Ugh! Take the bad with the good and use your own brain to test any glare issues ahead of time. I'm keeping in case I go into environmentally hostile places. But this isn't a "set it and forget it" leave on lens. Good luck!

  • Only Brand I Buy

I know you can spend more money on lens filters and maybe you need to if you are a pro - but Tiffin filters are moderately priced, great build quality, and have always worked great for me!

  • Nice protective UV filter

I use these filters for my Nikon 18-140mm and 18-105 zoom lenses. Offer great protection for my lenses. These lenses are of good quality and use this brand for my older film camera lenses as well. I would recommend this brand filter to my family and friends.

  • Solid build and real glass instead of plastic

Tiffen filter is made of real glass in the USA. Unlike other brands can be plastic especially if they are cheap price.
