6-point is the best
I didn't get the chance to use this for Christmas Decorations around the neighborhood, but I am looking forward to using it next year. The effects are far more distinctive and awesome, is about the only word to describe it. The 8-point pictures I saw, seem to be too cluttered and distract from the picture. The 6-point is great for the street-light view effect, the Christmas display in my old home town, the candlelight dinner, and other minimalist moments, where there isn't too many lights to focus in on. I recommend securing one or 2 of these, for whatever price, as it's a really good asset to have. I find that either the 58mm or the 77mm is the 2 to keep a watch for, because most lenses have that filter size, at least in my ever growing collection. I paired this up on both the 70-200mm and the 10-22mm and found it really worth every penny I paid for it. I have the 4-point, in the 72mm size, and found it underwhelming on a tour of Bentleyville USA (An extremely large Christmas Light Display, in Duluth, MN). The 4-point tends to have vignetting, and really wide beams of light that can take over the picture. The 6-point is more refined and better capable of not overpowering a picture. I wish I had some examples to share, but alas I got this in January, and only my Christmas tree was still up.

Excellent product
Tiffen has always made a quality product. This 77mm star filter is no exception. There is no shadows or ghosting. The pin to adjust the angle of the star is just another example of Tiffen going step further.
