Worth every penny!
I now have peace of mind! We purchased a refrigerator for over $3000 that had a filtration system in it. It was supposed to remove most of the contaminants in the water. I purchased a TDS Meter (Total Dissolved Solids) so I could see what certain water sources are as far pure is concerned. Any reading between 0 & 50 is considered pure, the lower the number the better. My tap water comes in around 205, which is high. The water from my refrigerator comes in around 168! Hardly much of an improvement! That's when I looked into the world of Reverse Osmosis. I did the research, and this is the system that I came up with. The system is inexpensive, compact and easy to install. Plus, Apec's customer service and tech-support is awesome! Oh, forgot to mention, water coming from the system is now a 7 on the TDS meter! I also purchased a refrigerator connection kit, and now I'm enjoying that same great water from my refrigerator as well as my ice cubes! Love the quality of water
I really love the smooth Taste of the water. I bought the alkaline water system and I am very much satisfied with it. The water taste like just one of those alkaline water bottles that you buy from store. But here you have a good idea of where the water came from. The assembly is not that bad since most of the valves are quick install. I did have to go shopping at Home Depot for a couple of items since I wanted to do a supply from the faucet to my refrigerator but it was easily done. After installing the water had a cloudy appearance which I know was air in it period a little Googling was able to solve that as well. Sprung a leak while on vacation
It took me about 3 hours to remove the old unit, another brand, and install this unit. It went in relatively easy. I had it in for 4 days and all was well and no problems under the sink. HOWEVER, I went away for 6 days and came home to find it had started leaking under the sink and it created water damage and leaked to the lower level leaving water stains on my ceiling below and a wet carpet. My carpet is pulled up in part of my office and the leak is coming from the hardest spot to fix which is where the faucet is connected underneath the sink. Its going to be a big headache getting under there as its a difficult fit for me. I'll be trying to fix it this coming weekend. It is currently shut off and not being used. So far, So good!
I installed it in my basement and hooked it up to a 22 gallon pressurized tank with a 40 psi SHURflo "delivery pump" to my faucet to overcome the hydrostatic pressure to get better flow at the kitchen sink . I live on a farm that has a deep water well and the water isnt that great, fresh from the well. This system has turned the water around 180*, there is No taste or smell to this water now. I did put a booster pump on to increase the pressure to the membrane because everything I have learned so far, is these sytems work best at higher pressure of about 80 psi directly into the membrane. I recommend that if you are on a rural well, have the TDS tested. They recommend nothing higher than a level of 2000 and mine is about 1400 entering the system.
