    It's the Only Choice but It's Prone to Fail

    These SRAM brake hoods are the only product that will fit on a SRAM 22 brake/shift lever. I bought this set so that I could replace the right one for the 2nd time in 5yrs. on one of my bikes and the 1st time in 3yrs. for my other bike. All of them have torn in the same exact place: the leading inside edge. I never had this happen to Shimano hoods over the approx. 25yrs. I used their drivetrains so it appears that this is a problem specific to SRAM (even though I otherwise generally prefer SRAM over Shimano). If there was another manufacturer making these I'd give them a try but that's not gonna happen. Instead I wish SRAM would fix this design defect (especially the one for the right shifter/lever which seems to have this problem since it gets more use). It would also be nice if SRAM wouldn't require you to buy a pair if you only need one (i.e., the right one) - the left ones don't seem to fail and I'm building up a stock of them in my shop. Otherwise the product is just what it needs to be: grippy/stretchy brake hoods.

    easily rips when used with Rohloff Gebla

    I recently got the Gebla gearbox for my Rohloff Speedhub so I could use SRAM shifters instead of the twist shifter. On just the first ride, they started ripping on the side where it shifts inward. After a couple month it tore apart completely, and I had to replace it. Had to replace THREE of them within six months! (One shifter got ruined by a broken cable, so I went back to the twist shifter now.)
