This is the last movie in National Lampoon's Vacation series. This one stars cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid)on a wacky vacation with his family in the south pacicfic. While there the get stranded on a island and find the true meaning of Christmas. I personally wanted this movie to finish up the collection, but it wasn't my favorite of the bunch. This one didn't have as much of the slap stick humor as Christmas vacation, maybe because Chevy Chase isn't in it, or maybe different writers, I'm not sure. It has it's funny moments and is entertaining, it's not a movie I would suggest running out buying the day it came out on DVD, it's one of those you can wait to see when it's in the bargain bin at some store, flea market, or a really good deal on Ebay!!Read full review
First and foremost this is not a movie that was released in a movie theater. This is a made for tv type movie with a very low production value. I don’t think it was shot on film either. But ..... If you love cousin/uncle Eddie you’ll get a solid dose of his “pull my finger” style humor. Some of the original actors from the Vacation series are there like the original Audrey among a few others.

I liked the movie! It's made for TV so it's not the quality of a theater film, but it does have its moments. We've been long-time fans of the original "Christmas Vacation" and watch it at least four times a year (not all during the Christmas holidays), so this "sequel" was something we just naturally had to have. My wife and I like it, our kids like it, but our grandkids, used to the first movie, don't bother...they just don't have the same sense of humor we do, I guess. If you don't go into this movie with high expectations you're going to like it. I do recommend it, but please, keep the original "Christmas Vacation" close by to get a proper perspective...many of the jokes in this movie are references to jokes in the original.Read full review
Christmas Vacation 2 is a failed attempt in order to recreate the vacation series by going in a completely different direction. The reason why this movie did not do good was the fact that Chevy Chase should have been apart of it, just like Cousin Eddie is apart of the other vacation movies. Since they wanted to "trade places" character wise I find it to be most approperate to include Chevy's character or else it doesn't work well which is obviously the case here. Cousin Eddie was the life of this movie but it got dull after a while... I do enjoy the part where they added that guy from European Vacation (the guy Chevy messes up a lot), but the rest is just sad attempt in trying to replace Chevy. The acting was pretty bad and the storyline wasn't decent either. Don't get this movie with high expectations, its a pretty bad movie but it is worth a viewing if your a vacation fan.Read full review
My husband loves the first Christmas Vacation so for Christmas I decided to buy him the second one as well. I couldn't find any in stores and I knew that Ebay would probably have one. It doesn't come with a book on the inner flap of the dvd case though, which was disappointing. I don't know that chapters of the movies. I haven't even watched it yet so I cannot even say if the movie held up to the first of the series but with the actors that it has in it, I can't imagine it too much of a disappointment. I'm still pleased that I bought it.
