About this product

Product Information

Designed and distributed by Intel Corporation, the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 processor is a capable chip with enough power to handle graphics-intensive gaming and software applications. As part of the Yorkfield line of 45 nm microarchitecture processors, this CPU was released in the first quarter of 2010. The Intel chip features a range of Intel technologies that enhance performance while elongating service life and can be paired with GPUs for a high-quality gaming experience. Designed for use in desktop systems, the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 processor is a workhorse among CPUs for professionals and gaming enthusiasts.Built for installation in a Socket T motherboard designed for Intel processors, the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 CPU runs with four cores at a processor base frequency of 2.83 GHz. It can operate up to four threads with quad processing and utilizes a front-side bus, or FSB, speed of 1333 MHz, which ensures rapid communication between the chip and the memory controller hub. It also features a 6 MB L2 cache that allows for efficient retrieval of data from primary memory modules. A cache like this helps to reduce delays in read and write operations executed by the quad cores. The quad CPU hardware operates with a thermal design power, or TDP, maximum of 95 W at times of high usage with power consumption ranging between 0.85 and 1.36 volts. With 456 million processing die transistors, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 CPUs are designed to withstand a maximum temperature value of 71.4 degrees Celsius. The GHz number can also be increased by tweaking the appropriate settings in the BIOS of motherboards. Users can safely engage in overclocking with this CPU as long as adequate cooling systems are installed in tandem with their performance-enhancing endeavors.Equipped with several Intel-trademarked support technologies, the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 is designed for usability, security, and consistent performance. Multi-monitor workstations can be generated with this line of processors via Intel Virtualization Technology, which permits businesses to employ a single system for multiple users. High performance levels are maintained while conserving power consumption through Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology, which allows for the regulation of voltage levels depending on load requirements. Intel Execute Disable Bit, or EDB, shields against the unwanted execution of potentially malicious applications by preventing sections of the chip from allowing harmful code and protects businesses that rely on the core to maintain productivity from suffering costly interruptions in service from cyber attacks. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 also features Intel’s Thermal Monitoring Technologies, which guard the CPU from potential damage resulting from thermal failure by reducing power consumption when absolutely necessary. With the specifications of Intel 64 architecture, the Intel Core CPU supports 64-bit computing on a variety of machines and is compatible with Microsoft Windows software as well. This design also allows the chip to access more than 4GB of RAM, providing professionals and gamers with the means to build an advanced system capable of handling intensive tasks.

  • CPU can't boot most of the time

I was happy when I got my CPU in the mail. I've wanted to upgrade my secondary machine for quite a while. It currently has a dual core CPU and since I'm using it as a server I wanted to upgrade to a quad core. So I rolled the dice and bought one on ebay. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 I got can't boot the operating system half the time. I've tried everything. I have two motherboards of the same type. Tried them both. I made sure that the bios is fully up to date. I replaced the battery on the motherboards. I tested the memory and tried several different operating systems on different SSD's. Simply put the problem is the CPU. It's not reliable. As soon as I plopped my old CPU in the system was stable and fine. Alas, I was sold a dud.

  • Intel quad core CPU vs. dual core processor

In comparison to the core two duo that is installed on Dell desktops to this CPU is awesum. Extremely fast and reliable. The computer went from 6.9 & 6.9 on the processor speed to 7.4 7.4. Graphics went from 3.1 to 3.8. The easy installation of the 2.84 GHz has boosted the performance and graphics on a mediocre Dell XPS 420 computer to an over drive mode that is fast and reliable on any Dell XPS 420 computer.

  • My opinion about Q9500

very good CPU but too old---no AVX, AVX2 instructions supported and slihgly big TDP----compare to modern CPUs anyway it MAKES it's job

  • Satisfied

This 4-cores CPU replaced my old 2-cores CPU. Althoigh it was really cheap upgrade, PC performance improved not only in apllications, but also in newer games, which surprised me.

  • Value for money

It can breathe life into older systems with a proper ram capacity. It cannot be compared to modern cpus, but it's still pretty good for work and/or some light gaming. Recommended if you have a s775 motherboard and can't afford to upgrade to a newer socket.
