A huge performance upgrade for only 5 dollar
I bought this processor to upgrade an old laptop Vostro 1000 (Sempron 3500+) I want to use for my arduino projects. The performance of this dual core processor is about 40% better than the sempron 3500+. Besides that the laptop works now very smoothly and can handle (due to his 2 cores) multiple simultaneous tasks. It is a real improvement on this point. I paid about 5 dollar for this processor (in good condition) what is really cheap. Before you put this processor in your laptop look on youtube to get some video assistance. A little difficult to install. Its such a small space to work inside of. But, it works great and my computer works 4 times as fast. That is remarkable. Be sure to be extra careful when you take things apart, as they have to go back together properly. Its tough when plastic gets old and brittle. The average performance of the new AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 processor is estimated from benchmark results as 140% faster when running multi-threaded tasks compared with the AMD Athlon 64 TF-20, using the same Socket S1 (S1g1). My old Acer Aspire 5517 laptop came back to life after installing a SSD and swapping the 2 processors. I strongly recommend checking video tutorials for disassembly and following the service manual available free online to properly reassembly.

Even with max RAM and an SSD drive, our old Dell Inspiron 1501 was lethargic running Windows 10 Pro. But a dual-core CPU upgrade GREATLY improved its perceived performance. Replacement came well packaged, and even with a packet of heat-sink grease. As usual, opening up the case was very tedious; and of course everything was done carefully in a static free manner. Big improvement
