Great Smoke Alarm, FAST shipping
Works well, good value. I have 12 smoke detectors in my house; a completely refurbished 1908 home. We were required to install fire detectors in all our rooms and the remodeler installed First Alert smoke alarms and all interconnected. They are all 8 years old and a starting to fail, one at a time. I want to replace them with like kind units, and eBay was the easiest place to purchase them. Great product and was easy to replaced the old ones.
I bought these new smoke alarm detectors to replace my current ones that were 13 year old. One started to fail so I went ahead and bought 4 to replace them all. I was a bit concerned about replacements because what usually happens is it when you have an old model, that old model would be replaced is a new model but with a different design even though it looks the same when you see a picture of one online.. I was extremely pleased that my old model was still being made and I replaced them all very easily. The base plates were exactly the same and I did not have to do any rewiring. Installed easily
I needed to replace thirty year old smoke detectors in a manufactured home. These installed easily in place of the old ones. Just a few tools, and a knowledge of electrical connections and safety required. I love the fact that these also have a battery backup. The old ones did not have this option. This is a direct replacement for the original units in my home. There was no need to change the mounting plate or the wiring harness. Replacement detector
The reason I bought this smoke detector is because it replaced an existing one that stopped working after six years. It just slotted right in without any modifications. The house builder installed this model and it has worked satisfactorily until now. My immediate reaction to this product was that it was all a bit flimsy. The battery compartment seemed weak and plastically. However, as I don’t intend to replace the whole unit by another product, it appears that the other alarms will likewise be replaced in time. If it's not broke don't fix it.
I installed three of these ten years ago during a remodel. Consumer Reports raves about this model and also recommends that you replace your smoke alarm(s) every ten years. So I did replace them with the same brand and model. The new detectors fit on the original mounting brackets so installation was a breeze. I am quite adamant about changing the battery annually on New Years Day. I test them on a regular basis and they have performed without incident for the past decade. I got this one to replace one just like it that was already installed and been in operation for probably several years but stopped working, so this one installed in minutes. I did have to use the base plate (that this comes with) that screws into the wall that the alarm then twists onto, but I was extremely easy and quick to do.
